Q: How do you change scents? Do you need to use new wicks each time?

Not necessary to change wicks. The amount left in the wick will be diluted very quickly when adding in a new fragrance. If you want to clear out 100% of the prior fragrance, you can use a small amount of the "So Neutral"; this will also help to keep the burner clean.

Q: does the oil eliminates without the cover

No, you have to heat the ceramic top, let it burn for about 5 min then blow out the flame. The heat from the ceramic then will purify the air after 30 min. Then replace the lid to the heating jar...hope that helps. (It's actually a unique air purification system created during WW1 They used them in the French Hospitals to keep the air as clean as possible) Oh! And because the flame only burns for 5 min it will not leave soout on your ceiling. Keep the lid on when your not using it though because not only will the oil evaporate quickly, it also ruins the ceramic wick.
