Sharp and strong
So far I love this knife. As advertised it is a very hard, very sharp blade and while I'm no expert, I'd say this was a great deal for the price. If I had one criticism it would be that if you just shake off the water and leave it to dry, the water left on the blade leaves spots, which is only a problem if it bothers you, in which case you just have to dry it thoroughly after washing, which may hazardous if you are clumsy or careless. I, for example dropped the chef knife while trying to polish it dry. The tip swiped my leg on the way down and impressively sliced right through my heavy cotton shorts, leaving a two inch long skin deep laceration requiring a brief trip to an Urgent Care clinic. I am pleased to report that despite hitting a tile floor, the blade was not damaged in the slightest. It really is a very sharp, very hard steel. Do not be careless with this knife. 5 stars, 14 stitches.

Great purchase. Even more impressed than I expected to be.
First off, these are absolutely beautiful knives, and if you're buying them as a gift, then you can be certain that the box they come in is gorgeous, well-manufactured and creates a chic look. In fact, if (for some reason) you decided not to hold these in some form of knife block, you'd want to store them in this box. I'm saving the box for moving purposes. Onto the knives themselves.I got the 8" Chef's knife and 3.5" paring knife set, and if I could give this product a 6-star rating in terms of value, I would. Paying under $50 in total for two pro knives (the only two knives that any home chef needs except for, perhaps, a bread knife) is a great deal. The knives themselves are beautifully manufactured pieces of art. They have a nice heft and balance to them, fit comfortably in the hand and feature a beautiful wooden handle than is prettier than what you see online. The handle wood a deep charcoal grey with slightly lighter wood grain striations. Foodie friends have mentioned how gorgeous they are.Now for a bit of a warning for the uninitiated. Whoever wrote the headline for this product got it wrong. These are are high carbon German steel. They are NOT stainless steel. These two categories of knives are mutually exclusive. High carbon will generally be sharper and nearly indestructible, but they require much more care than stainless, lest you rust your knives. That said, there are plenty of great Youtube videos available on how to take care of high carbon steel knives. Follow the instructions and try and establish a nice patina throughout the blade and you should be happy with these for the rest of your life, no matter your age.Do please do yourself a favor and learn how to use wetstones and leather strops to keep your knife in perfect condition without wearing away the blade. You can get them for not a lot of money on Amazon. Well worth the price.

Quality knife for a great price
I have just received my knife a day ago, I tested it and all I can say is: It is amazing!I had a similar knife which I used a long time and it travelled with me wherever I went but somewhere during those trips, unfortunately I lost it. It was similar to this, an inch smaller though and I could never replace it because the store where I got it, didn't carry it anymore. After a long search, I found this one on Amazon and it is similar to the one I had only better. It is larger in size but equally well balanced and with very good feel when held on the handle. It chopped through everything finely and fast and in this aspect, it exceeds the knife I had.The added bonus is the luxurious packaging which I like a lot.All in all, it is a very good knife for a great price. I will have to see how long it will last without sharpening and the durability.

If you want just an ok knife
Description on the box reads "precision engineered." I guess I'll start there, it probably is, but what it isn't is precision manufactured. It looks fairly decent and feels pretty solid, but if you look down the knife, the blade curves like a spaghetti noodle trying to escape my fork. The box also reads that it is "razor sharp." Yeah, not so much. Not unless your razor was used by your spouse to sharpen colored chalk for the neighbor's bratty kids that then proceed to draw on your driveway phallic symbols with your name under them because they hate you for not drinking the lemonade they stirred by swirling their dirty hands in the pitcher, like a scene from National Lampoon's Vacation. But hey, spend about 10 or 15 minutes running the blade thru a manual knife sharpener about the same number of times I heard "fake news" over the last few years. Do that, and you will be able to slice a tomato pretty easily. All in all, it's an ok knife for someone's home use from time to time. You'll be able to impress your dinner guest and family, as long as none of them are culinarily trained, with your cutting skills if they stay a reasonable distance. It's worth $30 or so, but I wouldn't put it on display or brag to my neighbors.

First impressions - great knife especially at this price point
Knife was just delivered about 2 hours ago (A DAY EARLY!!! YES!!) and I was ready!! Making a quick pot of my version of chop suey.Tasked with veggie and chicken cutting I set to work using this new chef's knife.Initial use proved fantastic! Sliced and diced several pounds of chicken and veggies in no time. I have a lot of kitchen cutlery and take great care to keep everything clean and sharp at all times. I must say this knife was a pleasure to use. Since I just got it I can't comment on how well it will hold it's edge or how it will react when it's time to be sharpened, but out of the box it's impressive. From my initial use I can say this is a good knife and recommend it - especially at the price point!
