Q: Is this the same Gulf Wax sold in grocery stores for half the price?

Yes it is. Walmart sells it for 3.12 a pound.

Q: Why does it cost $7.75 when you can get it at Wal-mart for $3?

I would have to buy round trip airfare to get to a Wal-Mart to buy this stuff. This is product is cheaper, for me, than going to Wal-Mart.

Q: What Are The Benefits Of Using This Product?

I use it when I make hand soap. I cut out little flower pictures, put one on the side of the bar of soap and dip it in melted paraffin to preserve it and make it pretty. If you melt this, be SURE you do it in a container inside of another container (pan) with water. Overheated paraffin will explode and burn you.

Q: Does anyone know if it is true that you can melt this onto wood to waterproof it?

Yes. We make firestarters in scouts that way all the time. We roll newspaper and dip it into paraffin. It becomes waterproof.
