2 design flaws most uncomfortable boot ever made
ZERO STARS. Most uncomfortable boot ever made with two serious design flaws. First and worst is on the outside of the boot on the in-facing sides. There is a faux leather strip doubled over as a loop for the laces shown in picture 3. You can see the bulge. This is then sewn under a flat plastic plate then plate is sewn to outside of the boot. Obviously in doing so this design flaw creates a lump that in turn creates an uncomfortable pressure point inside of the boot that when laced is immediately noticeable. Number two design flaw is on the inside of the liner where you have a raised vertical white seam from footbed up to near the top of the boot that is comprised of heavy bailing twine like thread rubbing against your ankle knobs like a cheese grater. Buy them and you’ll be returning them. Do not recommend whatsoever. Zero stars. Instead I bought Italian hand made Zamberlan Lynx mid 8” GTX boots from Bob Wards for just $3.00 more that are goretex and well known for comfort and quality that can also be re soled. 100x’s the boot the Salomon is. Also Salomon’s are made offshore where as Zamberlan liked the U.S market so much they built a factory here in America giving AMERICANS jobs. Would have bought Zamberlan’s in the first place but I did not think they would be affordable considering they are considered one of if not the worlds best boots but then a friend said these Zamberlan’s are actually just $309 on their website. Then saw Bob Wards selling them at just $262!!! Get them you will be ecstatic!

Uncomfortable arch and about a half size large
I really wanted to love these boots, but like a few others I found the rubber support/rope guard really uncomfortable on my right foot. Not sure if it was a manufacturing defect or not. Also the toe box was a bit narrow for me. I have a set of Keen Targhees that are pretty blunt at the toe box and I love them. However, they are not very durable. I bought the Salomons for their durability. I have a squarish toe alignment, so I have a hard time finding the right boot or training shoe. (Typically wear Nanos due to the wide toe box). The construction of these boots was impressive and I may try them again if they address the exterior construction. Kind of bummed that I have to send them back.Size wise I know all shoes are a bit different, but I felt a good deal of foot movement in these. I'm a size 10 in Rocky, Reebok, Nike, Thoroughgood. Try on some Salomon's or give yourself plenty of lead time.

Performance hiking boots with good grip, comfort, breathability and waterproofing
I wore these boots on a mountain summit hike (Mt Toubkal, Morocco @ 4170m / 13700ft) through very rocky terrain. Excellent grip on the soles, both going up and coming down boulders. Very good ankle support. Comfortable to wear and breathable; my longest day in these boots was 10h. No sore feet and no blisters after 2 days of hiking (but make sure you get the right size and wear liners). We crossed a few streams and puddles on foot, and the waterproofing worked perfectly.

Great fit for plantar fasciitis
Good sturdy boot so far. This my third pair of Solomon hiking boots but this is a heavier pair than previous. Fits just like the other models I have owned...A ton of ankle and foot bed support. The laces were oddly long though...I just cut them back.

Narrow/tight
I wanted to like these boots but they were way too narrow. Had to return.
