Excellent product!
Great dual bicycle with a very smooth ride experience! My husband assembled it pretty easily and quickly. We received within a week from ordering the bike! We love riding it in the park bike trails! A two hour walk takes around 30 minutes when riding the bike!

Great fun for the money!
Warning: long review. First, this tandem is NOT a $3000+ Co-Motion, Santana or the like and I wasn't expecting that it would compare favorably to bikes like that going into this. And it doesn't. Not in the same league. My rating of 4 stars is therefore not on the same 'scale' as rating that kind of machine would be. This is more based on the value to us and the fact that it's just plain fun to ride. The short is that, for the money, this is a perfectly fun way to get into tandem riding without too much risk, IMO. My kids and I are loving it. I bought it because it was about the cheapest way I could find to try tandem riding with my kids. I didn't want to invest thousands only to find we hated riding a tandem. I looked for a while for an affordable used quality tandem the right size in my area (Seattle) without any luck. So I thought for ~$300 I couldn't go too wrong.I am 5 feet 8 inches; and ~170 lbs as captain. My kids (boys) are 9 and 10 yrs old. The shortest is 52 inches tall. He 'just' fits the stoker with the seat all the way down (even removed the reflector to get saddle a little lower) and his leg has just a slight bend at bottom of pedal stroke. The 172.5mm crank arms are too long for a kiddo so that affects the fit for them too. But for what we’re doing, it works just fine. If you are a taller person as stoker I would guess the bars would be too low with someone my height as captain as even my 10 year old commented they felt low. I have them up as high as they can be under my saddle but with a taller captain they could go higher of course. The stoker bars seem low (and wide) to me as they’re currently positioned, but I haven't actually ridden it as a stoker. Just sitting on it, it seems like it would be slightly cramped and slumped-over into the captain’s back with those bars.It arrived in one large box and was packaged very well. Assembly was very easy and quick. I only needed to attach the front wheel, seat posts and saddles, both sets of bars/stems and pedals. The quality of the components seems okay for this level of bike. They are cheap (= heavy) but everything seems sturdy. The bike weighs 50 lbs 7 oz assembled with pedals. Not light. Went over every bolt, etc. on assembly, nothing unexpected was out of whack with exception of two things, see below. The saddles are total crap and I replaced both shortly after our first few rides. Of course, most folks have their own prefs on saddles, but these are bad. The grips are very harsh, will be replacing them soon too. Tires are heavy and loud but seem durable enough so far after about 200 miles. Will replace as soon as they wear out, possibly sooner. Per reviews I've read, I removed the tires and inspected for metal shavings but found none. The front derailer was adjusted okay out of box, the rear needed some love but nothing major. It took about 50 miles of riding/shifting for it to 'settle'. I can only assume the long, cheap cables stretch more than would normally occur and I have only needed to make super minor tweaks since to keep it all shifting well. The front is not indexed but the rear is 7 speed indexed twist shifter. The brakes are cheap but stop the bike surprisingly well. The pads are really cheap and are almost worn out already, so some good pads will only make things better I think. Getting the brakes centered (no rubbing) and keeping them that way has been the most frustrating thing so far, but they've seemed to settle in lately. Bearings and chains were lubed well surprisingly.I only had a couple of issues on assembly that may or may not have been flukes but they are the reasons for knocking a star off.The first was the front (captain's) cup and cone bottom bracket lock ring was loose (not even hand-tight) upon arrival so I checked the bearing load and tightened the lock ring and proceeded to test ride. After just a couple of miles noticed the BB had some play in it so re-loaded bearing and tightened. Same thing happened after a couple of more miles. Adjust, repeat, same result. What the heck. I'm no mechanic but jeez I've never had that happen. So I got pissed and really tightened the crap out of and proceeded to strip the lock nut. That's when I noticed there were only about 2 threads from the cone exposed for the lock ring to bite onto. I messed around with it to try to see if that could have been prevented but there wasn't any way. So that may or may not have been a one-off issue, but mine definitely had a issue that no amount of fiddling would have taken care of. It was the wrong part for the job. And another review mentioned a issue with the front BB so that's worth a close inspection for sure. I replaced that BB with a sealed Shimano UN55 (68 x 118) and that took care of that. Just be aware if you're considering this bike. That was an extra $20 I HAD to spend. I should note that this bike, unlike most super-cheap tandems, has a eccentric in the captain's BB so that's a small bonus over having a (ugly) idler gear. The second issue I had I'm sure was a fluke. The front wheel arrived well out of true and in process of truing it I noticed one spoke was slightly bent, right out in the middle. I don't know how this happened as there was not any damage on the box and everything seemed packaged very well, it must have happened internally in shipping where something contacted it. Not sure what it would have been. I straightened it and trued the wheel and all has been well since. BTW, the rear wheel only had the tiniest wobble in it easily corrected with a couple of quarter turns. The riding experience has been really great overall. It feels a bit like driving a truck. A very predictable and stable truck, but a truck nonetheless. Like I mentioned, the brakes are pretty good, surprising me a bit. They didn't seem to fade too bad on a medium-long decent we did the other day. The gearing seems like it's pretty useful. There's a very low 1st cog on the cassette that's a big jump from the second, and that is definitely nice for climbing steeper grades. On the other end, it's a little low geared for me and my older son. We've spun out (he did anyway) several times on very slight downhills or with tail-winds. That happened around 27 mph. I think the too long for kiddo cranks aren’t helping in that regard. We could use a slightly bigger large chain ring, there seems to be more than enough gearing overlap from the middle chain ring for sure if we wanted to, but not really worth it on a bike this level. For a heavy bike we can really fly on downhills (of course) but on flats too. My 10 yr old and I took a 26 mile ride on flat paved rail-trail and were easily averaging 17 mph and neither of us was working hard at all. I felt like I was doing a effort of 14 mph on my road bike, my heart rate was only in the low 130's. He never broke a sweat. It was really stunning to me. I am looking forward to some better rolling tires and seeing what we could do then. We haven't taken it on any dirt trails yet. We rode a small sampling of gravel trail that was no problem. We don't plan to do trails much if at all so will get some slicks when the time comes. The ride is smooth for me. Both my kids say it's okay for them too. It's strange to feel the frame flex as much as it does on hard efforts though I’m sure that contributes to comfort. We get lots of looks and thumbs-ups, especially from other kids when they see mine riding with me and especially when we're motoring right along. What would I (or will I) change? For longer rides on pavement, I would certainly change the tires. The saddles had to go already. The grips are next. I HAD to change the front BB. The stoker's BB is okay so far. Other than that, I doubt I would invest in changing anything else. So our required investment is up to about $330 required (285 + tax + replacement BB). Plus the 'optional' saddles which are not really optional IMO, but if you're just goofing around the block or very short rides, it might be possible to endure the original saddles. This bike is not really worth going very deep replacing stuff I don't think. If we continue to enjoy this bike through the summer like we have so far, maybe next year we'll consider a 'real' tandem. If not, we'll still have this one to dork around on when we fancy. This bike will have totally served it's purpose one way or the other without breaking the bank.If you're really serious about tandems this won't be the bike for you of course. What we've learned is tandem riding sure is fun and this bike taught us that. I'd buy it again for this purpose.7/11/17: Adding I recently raised the captain's seat and to get it to my ideal seat height I am about 1 cm over the recommended 'line' stamped on the stock seat post. Just a note as I'm only 5' 8 inches; tall so a taller captain will likely need a longer seat post than the stock one.5/16/18: Quick update: we're still riding with great fun! So I updated the two sets of grips for more comfort and the tires for easier rolling. Grips are cheap MTB ergo grips from Amazon. New tires are Schwalbe Marathon Supreme 26 x 1.60 (475g ea) vs. stock 26 x 1.95 (850g ea) plus smaller sized, lighter (35g ea) tubes. This difference along with their HUGE difference in rolling resistance totally changed the way this bike handles and seemingly flies down the road vs. prior tires. These tires were relatively expensive (waited to get them on a decent sale locally, but still $$...) and they outclass the bike but they're worth it IMO. Oh, and new brake pads because the originals wore out long ago. That improved braking pretty dramatically, I would recommend doing that even before the originals wear out.1/19/21: Update: we still have and ride this rig, it's still fun. The kids are older now and are both have their own 700c bikes and prefer to ride on their own, but we still ride it now and again. Probably get rid of it in a year or so as their interest fades in riding with their old man. Neither seems eager to try to captain. ;) Only wanted to update to confirm that this bike is likely a great candidate if you are looking to try tandem riding. It has held up to (roughly) 900 total miles ridden by us, mostly paved with some (estimate 75mi) very smooth gravel rail trails. I have not had to do anything to the bike other than small adjustments since replacing the tires in early 2018. Those tires are pretty awesome BTW.Now that the kids are older, the stoker bars are very low for them as their seat gets raised a bit every time we ride it seems, and the bars can't be raised any more without replacing the stem. I should have probably cut the stoker bars down too, they're a pretty comically wide, especially for kiddos even now. I would buy it again if I were in the situation I was in 2017 and looking to try out a tandem and not spend a fortune, although I see the price is now over $100 more than what I paid. Still a good deal IMO.1/2/2024: Likely last update. We ride it less over time but my older son who rode with me the most still likes to take it out once in a while and won't let me get rid of it. He's fully adult sized now, about my size and it still handles okay with us on it, though the stoker position is more cramped and we're close to the limit on the seat post height there now too. I see the price is (as of today) even cheaper than when we bought it, making it a even better value. I haven't had to replace anything else on the bike, it still performs as well as ever with shifting and overall. I would still recommend it for a cheap tandem as long as the stoker isn't too tall.

Great bike for the price!
I rarely do reviews but after riding this bike this weekend and thought about how happy I was with the purchase I thought I should let people know. My husband and I ride but my kids just never got into riding bikes. I bought a tandem bike to try to get them to ride with us and wasn't sure if we would use it much so I didn't want to spend a lot. I saw this bike at a pretty low price and thought "you get what you pay for" but bought it anyways just to see if I could get the kids out of the house. I was pleasantly surprised and found that its a pretty good bike... it's not a Cannondale but for the price I would highly recommend it. You can either fit to adults on it or one adult and a kid. It's great for a casual family ride and has held up will for several long rides.

Best amazon purchase of all time
Im 33 and have a degenerative eye disease that has made it impossible for me to ride a bike safely anymore so my husband and I bought this to go on family bike rides with our 4 kids and its our best amazon purchase of all time.! For most people a tandom bike is just for fun (which it totally is that also ) but for me this is freedom to still do what I love. It was easy for him to assemble and its really well made and sturdy.

Buyer beware.
Although most tandem bikes are much more expensive, it's important to note you get what you pay for. Although the bike is easy to put together, our arrived with several issues. Mainly a front crank arrived assembled but with a cracked spindle and a missing lock ring which lead to a disasterous first ride . It's was an $70 fix at a local bike shop before we could ever enjoy it. It's advisable to have it looked over by a professional if your not verse in bike mechanics or else you may run the risk of someone getting hurt.

Great bike! This is the second one we have ...
Great bike! This is the second one we have owned. We use it for our adult son that is autistic that has balance issues, and is unable to master riding a bike by himself. This gives him the opportunity to ride with the family, and get exercise, and he can pedal as much or as little as we need him to. The bike is well made, and rides really well. We took it to a local bike shop, and for $50, they put it all together for us! Well worth it! Our other one lasted several year. In fact, we are going to take it to the bike shop for a service to have for a spare, and other family and friends to enjoy!

Great bike, poor packaging
Good looking bike and fun to ride! In my town we have a nice waterfront and wanted to get a tandem bike to tour around. This bike very adequately meets my needs. Multiple speeds make it nice to get up the inclines and cover some distance on the flats. What keeps me from giving this bike 5 stars is the packaging which caused shipping damage. Both wheels were bent and took me a few hours to true the wheels just to be able to fit in the forks (thanks YouTube). The rear wheel still needs additional adjustment so I can get the rear brake working properly but we can ride it as is. It is a heavy box which makes it difficult for delivery and it might be better if wheels were shipped in a separate box.

Great fun product!!!
Excellent, my fiancé and I were on the fence on weather or not to get it , we are so glad we did, it is everything you could ask for price wise, also it gets a lot of thumbs up and stares people like it!!! Cons: we will be getting two gel seats for comfort and a 4 or 5" handlebar riser for the rear, the stock 2" ones are a little on the low side , if your on the fence , GET THIS BIKE, you won't be disappointed !!!!!!
