Paddington: A Classic Collection

The books are great, I read this to my 6 years old every day and there are a lot of words that my kid didn't come across in other kids books so he gets to learn new vocabularies every story, but for sure these are not books he can read himself before the age of 8 I guess

These books are what is known in the publishing world as 'perfect paperbacks', a horrible misnomer. It means that the pages are cut and then glued in a stack to the spine. In other words, when you open the book, the pages start to fall out. It is a very cheap way of binding a book, and if I had known that was the sort of binding here, I would not have purchased it. What point is there in giving a book like this to a child when no adult could be careful enough with it to prevent it falling apart? The books had pages coming out by the following day, but because I bought ahead of time for my son's birthday, I can't return them. NOT IMPRESSED.On another note, the Paddington series itself is charming!

I bought this boxed set for my 6 yr old who is an avid reader. This books in this set have the worst binding I have possibly ever seen, 2 chapters in and the book is literally falling apart. Such a shame to see complete lack of quality control. It would be prudent to buy from an alternate source like Chapters, Book Outlet etc.
