I'm so happy I found this gem
Everything they say about this knife is absolutely true. Its definitely the sharpest knife I have ever used. More than I could ever have hoped for. Doesn't feel cheap in the slightest. It actually feels very well made and balanced. It's more then enough for any home cook as I cant speak for Professionals but I can't imagine any complaints from them! I'm so happy I found this gem. And thanks to those who responded to my question about the difference between this and the Victorinox Fibrox 8 inch Chefs knife. Really $13.10 for a knife that easily keeps up with the $150 - $200 knives. I almost didnt want to write a review because I wanted to keep it a secret as I am afraid they will realize some how they priced it wrong and correct it lol. I would add that I ended up getting the Victorinox 47302 Blade Safe for this knife to protect the blade. I got the 6-8 inch safe and it fits it like a glove. Together for around $20 total you cant beat it. I'm now a big fan of Icel Knives and will be from here on out. I'm going to buy more as gifts to my family and friends. Although the packaging isn't anything to write home about and at first glance might look cheap. I can assure you that the minute they hold it in their hands that thought will never again return. Only again to be impressed without belief the instant they cut into their first piece of produce or meat. Thanks for taking the time to read [...] and if you have any questions feel free to ask as I will be using this almost every day.

This Knife is the Workhorse in the Stable
This knife seems to be a knock-off of the venerable Victorinox chef's knife. The Icel blade tang is a bit thicker than the Victorinox, but overall they are identical in most other dimensions. It has the same weight and balance as the Victorinox. I use my Victorinox every day, but it's starting to show some wear, and I wanted a 'prettier' knife for my recently purchased bamboo knife wall magnet. I'm hoping the Icel is a worthy competitor.Out of the box, the edge was very sharp as is typical for factory new knives. I am a bit concerned that the edge of the blade does not have a mirror finish. The machining marks are easily visible. Once sharpened, any micro-serrations from the factory will be gone forever and it will all be down to the steel. It's only after some weeks I'll be able to make a decent assessment of the sharpness of this knife. I will report back either way.I do like the surface finish of the Icel better than the Victorinox. It's a bit rougher and should hide scuffs better. I do have to admit I put my kitchen knives in the dishwasher from time to time, but I try not to make it a habit. The product arrived with the knife tip sticking out of the package. It's not a big deal, but also not a great introduction to the product. I cannot say for sure whether this is a packaging issue or came that way from the factory to the seller, so I'm putting it in this review.1/1/19 update -This knife is a fantastic knife. It holds its edge very well - I'm amazed by it. Feel is good. It likes the dishwasher just fine, doesn't rust. Total workhorse for the serious home cook.

Do not hesitate. These are HIGH quality professional knives.
Fantastic knife. I can't wait to buy more from ICEL. The price does not reflect the quality, these are up there with Victorinox Forschner Fibrox. Don't get me wrong, there is subtle differences between ICEL and Victorinox, first being fit and finish. The ICEL has great fit and finish but does not have an eased spine like the Victorinox and the handle is a little less grippy but still very comfortable and I don't feel like it's going to slip out of my hand. These use the same steel as most high quality German knives and Victorinox (X50CrMoV15) which is a great steel that can take a beating and still hold up in the demands of a high volume kitchen (I work in banquets at a high volume luxury resort kitchen). My knife came sharp and ready to go! Japanese knives are great and I own my fair share of them but I can't tell you how many times I felt uneasy about using my Japanese knives in the workplace for fear of getting damaged or stolen, so I leave those at home so they can be babied. This knife is a brute and noticeably heavier than a Victorinox which I like. I wish Amazon had the other ICEL lines like the Maitre or Technik series. I can't figure out why the price is so low on these compared to Victorinox, my guess is the name a popularity but I tell you what ICEL now has another life long customer.

Good large knife
I have only had this knife for a few days but it seems to be a nice knife for the price. The handle is plastic, but it is not to light and actually has a great weight to it for chopping. The blade is nice and sharp and cuts through a tomato well. That is always how I test to make sure my knives are sharp! The only complaint I have is that this knife is a little larger than I thought it was, the blade is a good length but the width of it is too wide to fit into my knife block all the way. Not really a problem with the knife but I wish it would have fit into my knife block. I did receive a discount on this product for my fair review.
