Heavy Duty Tilt/Swivel Gas Office Chair Mechanism. #3513GHD.

I bought this to repair an old 1994 Backsaver chair. (The one called the "OJ" chair because the judge used it during the trial). Looking at the image I had imagined that the swivel point was in the front similar to the Backsaver mechanism; but it is not--the swivel point is near the center. In spite of this not being a perfect replacement, I would buy this one again based on the price difference to the one meant to go in the OJ chair. This is a heavy duty mechanism, and I'm satisfied with its performance. (Accepts standard 28mm shaft with 17-04 taper).If there are any readers looking to repair a circa 1994 Backsaver chair, here are a few tips. First, mount the mechanism directly to the chair. I though it would be too low and mounted it with 1.5" of lumber, and ended up having to redo it after the chair seat was too high. Second, you will have to drill new mounting holes into chair itself. I used T-nuts like the chair had originally. Third, put spacers between the chair and the mechanism at the front bolts. This will allow the chair to recline further. The unit has the option to swivel forward of flat, so you probably can't go too far. Also, if reclining very far back was something you really liked about the Backsaver chair, you'll probably want to buy the exact replacement mechanism; as this one swivels like a normal office chair.

I shouldn’t have to worry about this one coming apart at the weld . And did I mention it was a bargain !!!
