Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Adult Grain-Free Dry Dog Food, Salmon & Sweet Potato Recipe, 12 Pound (Pack of 1)

Our Shih Tzu has a very finicky stomach, but this dog food works great for him. He eats it all up, and looks fit and trim for his age. Highly recommend.

When my large older dog who's a terrier breed was diagnosed with early signs of possible kidney issues and elevated protein levels showing in his urine, I knew it was the right time for me to consider making changes in the type of dog food I was currently feeding him. The question posed before me was which brand to choose as a substitute. My dog always had allergies to chicken including wheat and soy which is why I always in the past purchased a grain free dog food anyhow. Natural Balance fortunately still met those same requirements and it also doesn't irritate his stomach which is a common problem occurrence when you feed a senior pet. I especially like the fact that this formula is also lower in protein at 24% compared to his previous brand of dog food which was rated at 35% or even higher. Typically, anything going over 30% could be considered a high protein dog food. A level of 24% is only considered moderate and a considerable reduction even by my vet's strict standards. I've also read somewhere how sometimes giving your dog peas in their diet can also upset their stomach and I was happy to see that peas are not listed in the product ingredients anywhere. Finally, I needed to choose a dog food that has a lower level of phosphorus per serving to possibly help his kidney function and surprisingly many other brands don't even list the phosphorus level which for me was a bit concerning. That's why I'm so glad the the Limited Ingredients version sold here by Natural Balance has a phosphorus level of only .60 min. Very few brands if any out there in the marketplace appear to list phosphorus levels on their bags as being any lower. Trust me I cross- checked dozens of other major brands and I couldn't find any. Last of all, my dog really loves the taste of this Salmon formula and it doesn't leave him with a fishy breath smell afterwards like other brands sometimes have a tendency to do so. Some reviewers expressed concerns about their dog's stools being somewhat darker or even firmer. That's a typical characteristic of most grain free dog foods and my vet assured me that it wasn't anything I should be overly concerned about. This is the second bag here at Amazon that I've bought just recently and I highly recommend it. I couldn't be any happier and I wish all dogs Happy Tails and Bone Appetit.

Only brand my dog has ever been on. He's 13, healthy, and grazes on food throughout the day.I switched an adult dog we adopted to it within about 1 month with no issues. He use to gorge on his food, but now grazes like our other dog.We also have 2 cats that have always used this brand. We have had to switch them from Outside mix to Indoor mix.All of the food we get them is grain free. They are all healthy and are at a healthy weight without controlling how much food they get each day.

We have a rescue dog Polo the Cockapoo who came to us at 8 years old with skin and eye issues, he was almost bald. After years of vet visits, allergy shots and all kind medication we could never fully get rid of the scabby skin and goopy eyes. We have tried supplements, creams, medicated baths, food changes and still nothing, his eyes were so bad they had to be cleaned constantly. So during one of his bad skin episodes we were back to the vet due to another skin infection and the fill in vet said to try Salmon and Sweet potato food. I reached everyone brand that made this I could find. I didn't have much hope because of the fillers we had tried many kinds of food already. Natural Balance checked all my boxes especially not having fillers. Our Polo has been on this food over about 3 months. Polo has not been back to the vet for his skin or eyes, He is off his allergy medicine and no more goopy eyes. Polo loves this food my only issue I have not been able to find it in a small breed size. Polo is missing most his teeth and I'm sure I will need to crush it as he continues to age. This is an honest review. I have not received any free product or compensation.

UPDATE: 01/31/2025 Fourth month in and my dog is doing great. Only problem is this month I didn't get my Natural Balance. I got Blue Buffalo Select Perfect Skin and Coat. It is Salmon but it has grains in it. That, I was trying to stay away from. It is still free of Chicken of any kind and the other things that bother her so we will give it a whirl. Somebody wasn't doing there job because it doesn't say my regular food is out. It is too much of a hassle to send it back. We will see how it goes. Of course I was charged for my other food which was $1+ more. LOL The Natural Balance does last longer than the other food she was getting. I free feed but she doesn't eat a whole lot at a time. Which is good.I switched to it for the limited ingredients and it seems to suit my baby just fine. It is expensive but she is worth it. She is a Black Mouth Cur and starting to get up there in age. But if she's happy' I'm happy.

My cocker spaniels have been eating this stuff for years.

My staffy mix putbull has a sensitive gut but we both love the true natural ingredients with this brand rather then most brands on the market
