Great Idea! I updated my earlier review to 5 stars.
I really like this item! It looks good. Some reviews say the glass breaks easily but the glass is pretty thick and someone would have to be doing something wrong to break it (or it had a weak spot when manufactured). That is all I have to say about that. I like it and it will do the job nicely. Amended review. It's big enough for your hand. I do wish it would hold an entire Costco bag of coffee but I really like this thing!!!

Good Concept with Room for Improvement
UPDATED REVIEWAfter nearly 2 years of using this, I have to give credit where it's due. The container and seal have held up despite my skepticism. We use it quite a bit and like it. There's room for some minor improvement, but, still a 5 Star product.ORIGINAL REVIEWThis item does what it's supposed to. However, the design could use some refinement. First of all, the seal is a silicone-based ring that requires force when attempting to pull the lid off. That force is required to reposition the seal to accommodate upward travel. The stress on the seal during this process and its long-term use will likely lead to seal fatigue. Therefore, the longevity of the seal is a consideration. A better approach may have been to use a replaceable O-ring (any seal is wear item) with a press-button air relief valve on the lid for use during the lid on/off process. This design requires a precisely round cylinder shape of the glass jar and that precision may present a challenge to glassthe manufacturing process, I'm not sure. It just seems (at least on my unit) the force required for lid-travel (up & down) will ultimately lead to a bad outcome under the current configuration and some redesign should be considered.Other thoughts:In its current design, the elderly may have some difficulty with the level of effort required for lid removal and could lead to glass breakage if the jar were to slip during the process. Also, although the glass jar seems to be of adequate quality, the sticker label (in my case crooked) seems cheap; as does the lid itself. Although the packaging is impressive, the manufacturer could have at least taken a bit more pride in the workmanship and small details.

These are GREAT! Get them before......
I have the Airscape, and I now have this. The Aiscape is plastic and stainless steel. And you need to push the handle down for the vacuum to hold. It costs $40This is borosilicate glass and stainless steel that contacts your amazing organic pine nuts, or other foods, maybe a specialty single origin coffee bean? This one has no off gassing of plastic. As long as the glass is of high quality, no lead or cadmium, then this are FAR superior not only in quality, but in PRICE!They are less than half. And I would buy them before some brand makes a deal with the Chinese MFG, and promises the volume and not sell direct. This MONOPOLIZING GREED and non-capitalistic behavior is scum...So avoid scum and buy them direct. We see this happen in way too many cases where the people lose out and the scum get fatter pockets.Great product, and a good price. I wish they had bigger discounts for quantity, as I would buy 1 for all my nuts and seeds, coffee beans.

Perfect storage for coffee (ground or beans)
I first discovered this at Target and on a whim, or the clever manufacturers design work doing funny things to my brain, I took one home. That was about 5 years ago but then, on a dark, stormy night... the glass portion slid off, out of soapy hands and felt the full force of the kitchen floor as gravity sent it descending down, down ... and down.... CRASH ... (end scene) tragic day, I know.I think the glass gives this a nice, distinctive quality over anything made of plastic, but as you’ve read, one bad move and you’ll end up cleaning shards of glass, which to be fair was just user error and has nothing to do with bad craftsmanship. Keep this in mind if you have kids or have butterfingers like me.Still, I liked it so much that I bought a new one, this time off Amazon and peace has been restored to coffee beans everywhere (my kitchen).Bottom line: stylish, keeps coffee fresh, easy to see when a refill is needed, and the lid goes on and off with just the right amount of pressure - it hasn’t felt like the glass is about to shatter as some have mentioned. I’m not saying some units may not have an issue, but (knock on wood), no issues with mine.

Keeps it Fresh
I wanted a coffee storage container that was easy to open and easy to close and was not messy to use. I just put the coffee in the container, and them I push down on the cover and it slides easily into the container. I can feel the air flowing out of the container, through the cover, when I push it down onto the coffee. The cover is easily removed and allows air back into the container as I pull it out. The container is wide enough to allow me to move my hand down into the bottom of it to get coffee out without having to tip the container over and then pour out the coffee to allow me to reach it. If you push down too hard on the cover, then the bottom of it will push into the coffee and coffee grounds will get pushed into the vents. I am happy with this unit!

Prepara Evak Storage Container - glass too fragile
I really liked the simplicity of this airtight storage container. But the glass is too thin and weak to serve its purpose. In fact, it broke on only the third time I used it.When it arrived I recognized that the glass container was fragile and I would have to be very careful not to accidentally bump it into other solid objects. I’m careful with fragile objects, but what actually caused it to break really surprised me: as I slowly lifted the lid up and out I didn’t realize that I wasn’t keeping it perfectly horizontal. So when the solid metal lid was at a slight angle while I moved it, the glass suddenly cracked from that slight pressure. A single large piece broke out (see pictures).Poor design. I wasted my money.
