Fits 1969 Camaro with mounting hole adjustments
Replaced a three-row heavy duty copper/brass radiator in a 1969 Camaro Z28 with 406 SBC modified with a 1990 Camaro serpentine belt conversion, reverse flow water pump and 18 inch reverse rotation clutch fan.The radiator packaging is minimal and it arrived with both the upper and lower hose fittings bent/crushed out of round. I bent them back into shape with pliers and a soft mallet. The hoses seem to seal properly. The entire radiator is painted “aluminum” and there are no polished areas like in some other reviewer’s pictures. This radiator is advertised as a three-row radiator and it appears to contain three cross flow tubes. The core is 1 ¾ inches thick vs the copper/brass core of 2 inches thick. The aluminum core is slightly wider than the old radiator’s core. I leave copper vs aluminum radiator construction and cooling capacity to others to research, but I expect this radiator to transfer heat at least as good (maybe better) than the copper radiator it replaced. If you start the mounting with the passenger side upper bolt, the driver side mounting holes do not align with the core support. If the core were slightly narrower, the mounting holes may have aligned properly. The filler neck is longer/taller than a stock radiator so the radiator pressure cap puts a hole in the hood insulation when it’s closed. I modified the radiator mounting holes by filling them in with JB Weld epoxy and spray painting with matching 500 degree “aluminum”. New holes were drilled to lower the entire radiator 1/2 inch. This lowering also allowed the clutch fan to be centered in the fan shroud and provided more clearance between the hood and radiator cap. This radiator’s core is slightly wider than a stock small block brass/copper radiator and mounts slightly closer to the core support. The fan shroud did fit over the core, but there are two small gaps at the upper corners. To mount the bottom of the fan shroud, I ground down the heads of two short 3/8 inch bolts and JB Welded them to the side tanks in alignment with the shroud mounting points. The upper shroud mount needed a hole drilled closer to the core support. I used a 1 inch fan spacer to place the fan one inch into the fan shroud. With new coolant (one gallon Prestone and one gallon distilled water – there was coolant left in the block) and new hoses and a 180 degree Stant thermostat, I idled the engine for about 30 minutes. The computerized (EFI) coolant temperature sensor in the intake manifold never went higher than 184 degrees. Air temperature was 70 degrees. There were no leaks.I would recommend this radiator, but it takes some slight modification to fit.

Good product. Would buy again
Installed it in a 68 firebird 455. No leaks, cools well. Minor trimming to the mounting holes. No biggie. Great radiator for the price. Not as polished as an expensive one but this is a daily driver.
