Best knife I've ever owned.
I've been carrying a Swiss Army knife since I lost my Boy Scout knife while serving in the US Army in Germany in the late '60s. Over the years I bought more versatile models until finally buying a Swiss Champ in the mid '70s. Having the Champ in my pocket saved me countless trips down a ladder to fetch a tool. The Champ had what I needed. While working in Israel, in 1995, I spotted a Champ with white scales in a shop in Ashdod. I've carried it ever since. It's the only one I've seen with white scales. I inquired at Victorinox about having the knife repaired a while back but they wouldn't guarantee that I'd have the white scales on what they sent back to me. I suspect that they would have sent me a brand new replacement rather than repair my old one. The requested repairs are relatively trivial and relate to tools I've bent or otherwise damaged over the years. Now that I've retired, I don't need to use it as often as I did while working. Keeping the white scales is more important to me than the repairs. I've replaced the toothpick, tweezers, and pen on a few occasions. On formal occasions or when wearing shorts, I carry my Classic SD Pocket Knife which also has white scales.
