Christmas time is here again
In December 2017, Apple surprised everyone by issuing the seven fan club flexi-disc singles on coloured vinyl as a box set. Fast forward three years and Corgi have released a new diecast Beatles Taxi based on the cover of that box set.Appearing in the now standard ‘Abbey Road’ box, this one has Paul and Ringo on the nearside and George and John the offside. The roof is emblazoned with ‘HAPPY CHRISTMAS Beatle People!’ whilst the bonnet has ‘The Christmas Records’ on it. The number plate is ‘B1’ and the rear has ‘The Official Beatles FAN CLUB’ and logo on the boot. It’s another one to add to the growing collection of Corgi buses and taxis (and Yellow Submarines) and I think this is the best so far, if only because it’s different to the others and one you wouldn't have envisaged.For those interested in why Corgi sometimes use designs that seem out of place with the vehicle in question (the ‘I Am The Walrus’ picture used on the ‘Hey Jude’ taxi is a prime example), it’s because Apple has a ‘Style Guide’ with various sections which limits the designs that can be used.

Beautifully Crafted Cultural Artefacts
Well shake it, shake it, shake it baby now, twist and shout. The Fab 4 will forever live in the popular cultural history of Britain, their appeal extending beyond our island nation to a grateful World. These Corgi cultural artefacts of the London bus and black cab, cast in iron, are beautifully intertwined with the Beatles story to make a memory to keep forever and pass to the next generation. ❤
