Dorfman Pacific mens Outback

Just received my new hat, and I am very happy. After reading the reviews, I was concerned about the hat being to large. My hat size is borderline medium/large. After pondering for a while on which size to get, I remembered that I already have a hat by Scala. I have a casual straw hat that I picked up in Hawaii a few years ago. That hat is also a little large, but I never really had an issue with it flying off my head, so I decided to order this hat in a large as well. I added the foam sizers that were included, and now if fits perfectly.I ordered the khaki colored hat. Some of the reviews complained about the the color being to dark, but for me, its perfect. It matches the color of the coat that I intend to pair it with.When I received the hat, the shipping box was mangled. I was worried that the hat would be as well, but it was fine. The shipper should have added some stuffing around the hat to prevent the box from getting crushed.Over all, I am very happy, and would recommend this hat to anyone.

This is a heavy, all purpose hat. Heavy felt, but not a smooth felt like a top of the line hat, but the price was right and the feel of the hat is great. Get maybe two of these for the price of a high end hat.They say it's crushable. It came slightly warped, but regular fiddling with it would not straighten it up. Got it wet, and it took new form quickly with only a slight amount of fiddling, and letting it dry. Crushability seems like a weird claim, since it won't TAKE a weird shape, so far [unless it is wet]. I do wear it in the rain on purpose, and it doesn't seem to care.This will be a year-around work hat for me because when damp it is cooler even when it is hot outside.Also like the color. May sound stupid, but its color is excellent, and partly because it won't show dirt well, and appears to be easily washable.

About the only gripe I have about this fine hat is the lack of 'chin strap' to help keep it on in the wind. I am between a small 'large' and a big medium, so went with a large (having experienced a Stetson that was slightly small and the mild headache that goes with). Have been complimented on my hat several times.Update -- I have had several compliments on my hat, and have worn it in the Pacific Northwest summer (85+ temp and humidity), and this hat kept my head cool(ish), kept it warm in the 'winter' and dry during what they call rain (yeah right, maybe a heavy mist at best)

This is much 'prettier' than I was expecting. I bought an XL as I have an XL head when I let a bit of hair grow on the sides of my head. Buzzed & without any hair on the sides of my head it still fits but it isn't very tight so a strong wind could blow it off.As I bought this to shade my head from sun when I mow and do yard work it is quite effective and comfortable. If I was the type that wore hats as a style statement I'd definitely buy a second hat to keep clean and to wear on hikes, camping and such. Actually that is practical too but I need to buy a hat brush and learn to use it as I don't want to clutter up my limited closet space.

Bought this hat in Feb. 2020, little tight but I’m thinking it’s the fake leather band around the outside of the hat, for $60.00 could actually put real leather band there, might be 1/4” wide and it would have stretched as you wore it. After wearing the hat and sweating in it, the inside felt is getting green mildew, I roll up the inside head band up to let it dry but green mildew is spreading higher into the hat.So maybe a better hat from some other company. Don’t know about the crushable part because never had no reason to crush it and pack the hat. All in all I give this hat 3 stars, good hat if you wear it once in while I suppose. Didn’t buy it for once in a while...
