Great for sisters, great for parents, great for adventurers.
We own all of the Mercy Watson books as well as all of the Tales From Deckawoo Drive series. I have two daughters, ages 3 and 6, who are both big fans of the books. While my 3-year-old really likes the Leroy Ninker book, I think the rest of us thought it not as good as the rest of the Mercy Watson series, and none of us were too impressed with the Francine Poulet option. This one is back in the game, big time. While my 3-year-old isn't quite as attached to this one (not as many animals in it), my 6-year-old loves it, and I think it might be the best of the Kate DiCamillo books so far. The descriptions and mental imagery is fantastic, the story is incredibly sweet, and the dialogue is amazing. I love how every character has his or her own voice, so reading this aloud is great. Stella gets to spend some time in the spotlight, and (at least in our house) has developed a cadence of speaking in breathless joined sentences, paragraphs of childish chattering that fits her perfectly. Baby Lincoln gets to get out on her own and discover herself, and we see some really touching moments about her and Eugenia as children.I love this book. This book is great for little siblings everywhere and big siblings everywhere and parents of siblings and anyone who's ever wanted to go on an adventure.

Baby comes into her own!
We got to know these sisters from the Mercy Watson series and they are quite a pair. I really love how Kate DiCamillo expands on the stories of the supporting cast in her books. In this one, Baby decides she needs to go on a solo and "necessary journey" leaving her older sister Eugenia at home. With each stop on the way she learns a little more about herself. I thought Eugenia was overbearing and bossy but as this story is told with wit and humor we learn neither character is one dimensional.I love this book! I read it to my 8 year old son, and he loved it. Kate DiCamillo doesn't "write down" to kids, and that makes her books way more fun and interesting.

Another fun Mercy Watson book
My 4 and 7 year olds love the Mercy Watson books! They are great fun to read aloud. You can do different voices for all the characters. Eugenia Lincoln is my favorite character to read for, but I also love Baby Lincoln. The characters are endearing, the plot lines are ridiculously funny, although somehow poignant s well. Don't hesitate on a Mercy Watson book; they are all amazing!

VERY SWEET!
Our kids loved this book. The problem of the younger sister being bullied by the older and how she solves the problem and has adventures of her own is sweet, funny and relatable.

Captured their interest at once
When I visit my grandchildren, ages 8 and 9,I always bring a little gift. Because their mom said they seem only interested in the graphic books for kids, I took a tip from Ann Patchett and brought a gift for their puppy…Where Are You Going, Baby Lincoln. As neither of the kids were interested in reading to the dog, I sat down on the floor and began to read aloud. After only a few pages, each child asked if they could read.once finished, they pronounced the book GOOD!

Great book
Not as good as the original 6 Mercy Watson books, but is still cute and funny. My kiddos love these books, and honestly, so do I.
