This is a good stair gate, looks very nice and it very sturdy once installed. It's great for the top of the stairs as it has no bottom bar for you to trip over.However, I have brought multiple stair gates and never once measured the distance, but I wish I had with this one. For some reason, this stair gate is much smaller than any others I have brought and so meant that I had to go and buy pieces of wood, to screw against the wall first, and then attach the stair gate to the pieces of wood in order for it to reach both sides of my stairs. It was a big faff. Not necessarily BabyDans fault, but they could make it the same width as a normal stair gate.So overall, looks good, is sturdy and does the job at the top of the stairs, but make sure you measure your gap first before purchasing.

6 month usage review. Would recommend this 100%.Pros:- Looks really nice, made from real wood. From a distance you can't see the hinges/connectors so it almost looks like its floating- Very simple to install, it includes paper templates (keep them in case you need to move it), so that you get the exact right drill locations (I sellotaped mine to the door frame).- Good solid locking mechanism, a dog could never open it, a child would really struggle.- Includes all the adjustment tools (spanner) - of course you need your own drill for the holes.- Really sturdy connectors (white plastic).- No noises from hinges or lock (eg no creek).- Opens nice a wide.- Opens in both directions.- Easy to remove the gate from the wall, unclip one connector (last photo) and it lifts off.only slight disadvantage:- The lock is really good, so can take some people a little getting used to, we've had for six months and its second nature to us now.

The design visually great. However the opening mechanism could be an easier design, my wife has difficulty in opening it.We bought 2 so we can control which areas our dogs are allowed in the house, this application has proven to work well.

was dreading installing this gate as many reviews said how difficult, it was so easy, follow the instructions, look what bit goes where, use the template it shows which bit, quality wood very sturdy, thought the plastic would be weak but it is not, have 3 small dogs behind it and it works. easy to open and love the fact if any plastic pieces break you can get spares. excellent product.

We bought three of the gates to prevent the dog being able to access the rooms off the hallway or the stairs. The design is very simple but clever, and the instructions for installation likewise. The ease with which they can be opened, closed and removed is testament to the thought that went into the design. The gates are also unobtrusive when installed. A quality product at a good price. We are very pleased with them.
