Barefoot feeling from the sole but toe box is narrow
I really wanted to love these for being nearly barefoot in winter, but sadly had to return them.I loved that they allowed quite a lot of sensory input from the ground and the surfaces you walk on. Despite the waterproof sole, they feel closer to socks than barefoot shoes for instance. In that respect they are the closest thing to barefoot I've ever tried. What was less great was the sizing and shape. I found myself in between sizes, with the S too small and the M leaving a bit of flapping at the top. I could live with it, if it weren't for them squeezing my little toes painfully, as sometimes happens with regular tapered shoes. Their sole curls up to the sides and it's hardened material mean it's not stretchy like socks, so the round toe box was too narrow for me. I have medium wide feet.Another point to consider is that they are not waterproof on top, so a quick walk on damp grass and they will get wet.Similarly, the top sock is a rather standard sock width - a point to consider if you are hoping for winter protection from the cold. Of course you can wear another pair of socks underneath, but thick socks felt uncomfortable and even with regular tights my toes were squashed. It's a great idea for a product for the growing barefoot community and certainly impressive technology with the sensory-friendly soles. I'm disappointed these haven't worked for me but would definitely follow the brand see how the next generation feels like.I would hope they would offer a more ergonomic natural shape around the toes. It would also be useful if the top bit would be waterproof as well as bit thicker to offer more protection from the cold.

Great protection while running
Running barefoot for 3yrs. Up until now, when the weather got too cold I use my Merrell Vapors 2. Not any more, these socks are brilliant. They are a mid point between barefoot shoe and barefoot. I've only done 20 miles so far, over rural roads with lots of winter debris on the ground that would have cut my foot for certain and they held up really well. You can feel everything, feedback is really good, but I do not think they are completely puncture proof. If these things fall apart - which I doubt they will - I'll be back to let people know how many miles it took to break them. I'm a barefoot size 42 and the Medium is slightly pinching my right foot. Update- My initial impressions seem to be holding up. I've clocked up more than 500 miles in these, always over rural country roads and parks paths in all seasons. They are beginning to show some signs of wear on the ball of my foot (the fuzzy grip is now flat in this section) but I'm still very confident running in them. I've hit some pretty bad trails and section of new surface road (loose chips kind) and I'm always impressed by the abuse these sock are taking. Maybe it's my light build or running style, maybe it's because I rarely do more than 15 miles in one go with these, but the only problem I've encountered is the horrendous stink from running in them without socks. I rarely use my other barefoot shoes now, unless I know I'll be running over exceptionally poor ground for a couple of miles.
