Kaizen Casa stone Mortar and Pestle, for Grind Spices, Powder Pesto, Mash Herbs, Crush Pills, Regular Size (3.75"X2.75" Mortar, 5" X1.5" Pestle)

We needed a mortar and pestle to grind very small (like, sand size) bits of stone to make our own pigments for watercolor paints. This does not hold up. We have used it twice and there’s more fine powdered mortar and pestle in our pigments than there is the pigments themselves. My fault for trying to save money, but I cannot recommend this to anyone who might use it for grinding anything hard. Might be fine for soft spices. Otherwise, you may end up with bits of this stone in your food.

It's advertised as black, that's what I liked about it. It's light grey though. As usual, not enough of a dealbreaker to return it, but fk false advertising

This black mortal and pestle set is very cute. Fits in the palm of my hand. It has a good weight to it and feels nice to use. My only gripe is that the black coating comes off on my hands when I use it. No idea if it’s toxic or not 😅. I was debating on sending it back, but I love the black color so much. It should be noted that the black coating only covers the handle portion of the pestle and the outside and rim of the mortar. The inside of the mortar and the bulb end of the pestle are untreated stone. I have had it long at the time I’m writing this, but so far, so good.

When crushing spices this mortar and pestle smears black... paint? stone? into the spices. Whatever it is, that is not how these are supposed to work.

It's small but a good size for crushing dried herbs and garlic. It is a dark gray color which is nice. I don't know why people rated the item low because it was not black. It works so that should be important.
