BEYIMEI PCIe SATA Card 2 Ports, PCI-E to SATA Expansion Card,6Gbps PCI-E (2X 4X 8X 16X) SATA 3.0 Controller Card for Windows10/8/7/XP/Vista/Linux,Support SSD and HDD

For initial context, this review is based on a fresh installed Windows 10 on a new NVME and updated all Windows update drivers, and provided motherboard disc drivers.I purchased this expansion card since 2x of my onboard SATA ports were disabled by installing a new NVME SSD, this meant to use my existing SATA drives I had to get an expansion card. I purchased the BEYIMEI 2 port card.The card works however at first I had my CD drive connected and a fresh new 2Tb Samsung 870 Evo SSD, my first steps were performing benchmarks on the new SSD to check read and write speeds and I noticed it was consistently performing the following:-160 MB/s reduced in Sequential read-110 MB/s reduced in Sequential write-30,000 IOPS reduced in Random read-40,000 IOPS reduced in Random writeAs you can image this is quite a reduction in expected operating speed. After this I noticed the drive AND the CD/DVD reader I had connected to this expansion card were being recognised as Portable devices rather than internal and I could not get them to recognise internally after trying all of the respective steps to do so from bios AHCI settings, bios hot swap disabling or Windows registry editing.In the end I used this expansion card for an an old Seagate HDD and installed my fresh SSD into a motherboard SATA port. This brought the SSD to expected performance however now my HDD displays as a portable device and as ejectable..So it does work but not optimally for me at all, if an adequate solution is provided I will update this review.

Je suis toujours surpris par certains commentaires du type de ceux que j'avais lu "Installation automatique", "Carte auto détectée" "Pas besoin d'installer de driver".. Tout cela est FAUX ! Je suis loin d'être débutant en informatique et j'ai galéré pour trouver et installer le bon pilote, car la carte n'est pas détectée lors du démarrage. Certes il est sur le CD (pour les chanceux qui ont encore un lecteur optique..). Mais il n'y a aucune Doc dans la boite et il faut trouver : le fabricant (Marvell en l'occurrence) et le modèle (88SE9215), bref le jeu de piste indiqué dans le titre. Comme je suis sympa j'ai mis en image la solution du rébus. A part ça lorsque la carte est opérationnelle elle fonctionne tout à fait correctement, Windows10 la reconnaissant comme un "contrôleur AHCI SATA Standart". J'ai branché dessus mon lecteur BD-DVD et un disque neuf que je venais de tester pour comparer (voir image), les débits sont comparables au port SATA de la CM (ASUS B660). Voilà j'espère faire gagner un peu de temps aux futurs acheteurs..

This is a great item and was easy to get up and running. My only gripe is the drivers on a cd. Why?We are at a time where c.d`s are pretty much unused in the computer world now. My custom build doesn`t have a c.d drive and many users don`t have or use them nowadays. I had to unearth my old cd/dvd drive and link back up to my pc before I could install the drivers. It would be so much easier if they uploaded the drivers and provided a web address to download the drivers. After all the cd supplied has all the drivers for the hardware they sell, which amounts to no more than168mb.Plus its less plastic which really isn`t necessary.

I added an NVME card to my pc and it disabled a couple of my SATA slots so I needed some more to plug my existing SSDs into. I like my gaming so decided to try RAID 0 to get a bit more out of the 3 SSD drives I had. This BEYIMEI 4-Port is RAID compatible and seemed to be what I needed. It arrived promptly and looks good. Hardware installation was easy but trying to set up the RAID wasn't. That was until I found the Marvell Storage Utility installation file tucked away in a file on the driver disc. After installing that I found it straight forward to set up my new RAID 0 with 3 SSds. I have included a pic of a Crystalmark speed check of a single SSD before and the 3 SSDs in RAID 0 after. As you can see the RAID sequential speeds are an improvement but all other speeds are down.Overall I'm happy with this product as it's allowed me to keep using my extra SSDs.

Habe diese Karte am Wochenende erhalten und kann zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt leider nur einen Stern vergeben.Die Karte ist gut verbaut und die Qualität stimmt soweit. Es liegt der Lieferung eine kleine CD mit Treibern und dem Utility von Marvell, sowie einer 1 X Low-Profilblende bei. Die Karte wurde unter Windows 10 1903 ohne Probleme erkannt und lies sich in Betrieb nehmen.In meinem Fall wollte ich die Karte nutzen, um, für einen geplanten Hardwaretausch, mein aktuelles RAID1, welches derzeit auf einem JMicron Onboardchip lief, zu ersetzten.Habe also die Daten von alten RAID gesichert und mein alte RAID platt gemacht bzw. die zwei identischen Festplatten mit jeweils 2TB formatiert. Danach habe ich die zwei Festplatten an den Port 2 und 3 der Karte angeschlossen, da diese übereinander liegen, über das MSU (Marvell Storage Utility) als RAID1 eingestellt und die gesicherten Daten des alten RAIDs auf das neue RAID zurück kopiert, nachdem ich die diese noch aus Windows heraus in 3 Partitionen formatierte.Die Geschwindigkeit war, auf Grund meiner aktuellen Hardware, in Ordnung und ich bin soweit zufrieden.Warum aber nur ein Stern?Nun ja, ein RAID in Betrieb zu nehmen und es auch zu nutzen sind 2 Unterschiedliche Dinge, da ein RAID ja auch bei einem Defekt und Austausch einer der Platten wieder funktionieren soll.Um dieses zu Testen haben ich gestern einer der zwei Festplatten in ausgeschalteten Zustand abgezogen. Bei Start sagte sowohl beim Post als auch im MSU dass das RAID "degraded" ist. So weit so gut. Habe den PC ausgeschaltet und die zuvor gezogene Platte wieder angeschlossen. Doch bei erneuten Starten vom PC wurde beim Post und auch in der MSU noch immer das RAID als "degraded" angezeigt, was mich doch sehr verwundert hatte. Daher habe ich den Test in umgekehrter Reihenfolge getätigt um kam auch dabei auf das gleiche Ergebnis.Also ich den Rebuild über das BIOS, welches man beim Post über "Strg"+"M" aufrufen kann, versuchte wurde dieser ohne eine Fehlermeldung abgebrochen. Daher habe ich es anschließend über das MSU versucht, wo es jedoch auch nicht funktionierte. Im MSU gab es jedoch eine Fehlermeldung im Log, welche auch einen Sektorfehler hindeuten, jedoch nicht ob dieser auf der Festplatte 1 oder 2 liegt. Habe daher beide Festplatten, da die SMART Daten im MSU gut aussahen und keine Auffälligkeit zu erkennen war, an einem anderen PC überprüft und auch dort gab es kein Problem bzw. gab es keinen Hardwarefehler.Also beide Festplatten wieder mit der Karte verbunden und zuvor eine Festplatte komplett platt gemacht und erneut einen Rebuild versucht, welcher mir jedoch wieder mit einem Sektorfehler quittiert wurde.Was nutzt mir ein RAID, wenn ich dieses bei einem Auswechseln einer defekten Festplatte nicht wieder herstellen kann?Somit geht die Funktion der Karte, welche für den RAID-Betrieb beworben wird, am Ziel vorbei bzw. erfüllt nicht das, was sie können soll.Ich werde jedoch heute zur Sicherheit überprüfen auf welchem Stand das BIOS bzw. die Firmware vom Chipsatz 88SE9230 ist, da sowohl die Treiber als auch das MSU von der CD schon sehr alt waren. Kann also daher nicht ausschließen, dass dies ein Fehler in einem zu alten BIOS/Firmware ist.Sollte es an einem zu alten BIOS/Firmware liegen, dann werde ich die Rezension entsprechend anpassen.Sollte es jedoch nicht am BIOS/Firmware liegen, so wird die Karte einen Hau weg haben, was jedoch auch nicht besser ist.
