Mind blown
It's very very rare these days that I'm introduced to a new company that completely blows my mind. Tyger has done just that. This is the first roof basket we have purchased... so we were flying a little blind while shopping. We opted for the Tyger because it just looked well-designed, was well-reviewed and the price was right for our use. First off... the shipping was surprisingly fast. Immediately I noticed the quality of the packaging. Upon unboxing I was struck by the build quality and the simplicity of assembly. The fit was outstanding, the parts well built. It came together so smoothly and felt rock-solid on assembly. The packaging was efficient with very little waste and relatively little plastic / foam. I just kept saying how awesome the product was.. how awesome the design work was... how user-friendly it was. And then some of the smaller details sealed it for me. Down to the security allen screws for the rail bar mounts... just awesome, thoughtful, utilitarian detail. It honestly made me want to know what else this company makes... hell, I'd even go work for this company. Their attention to detail is that good. I love it. And it looks killer.

Solid Build- Nice Look- Things to Consider 48” Version
Product is a solid build with large tubing and clean welds. It was easy to assemble. Once mounted, it feels secure and sturdy.Pros:Gauge of tubing- thick and strongEasy to assembleRugged, aesthetically appealingQuality hardwareVersatile and simple tie-down pointsCons:Mounts to cross bars more adaptable to square bars, mine are teardrop shaped- still works, just takes more time to balance mounting post screwsSome wind shear noise from plexiglass-coverCrossbar mounts don’t allow my sunroof to use tip-up function (this may not apply to most)All hardware screws use an anti-theft Allen key, so don’t lose it!!Removal- would be tedious for storage periods.TBDHardware screws weather and rust-proof?Mileage- with empty load, may trend down slightly. Be prepared to accept 2-4 mpg reduction (**UPDATE 10/2024- after 3 months of use, MPG reduction is 2.5 miles less w/ rack empty**)Pitting on some welds- may rust- I plan to fill with black silicone.Union of front frame to rear- middle of rack- Joint could retain water. I wrapped mine with a rubber seal.Your roof will never be as clean before the install. Washing is a bit tedious with rack in place.OverallThis product appears to be built to last. Time will tell as to its ruggedness, holding power, and finish durability. It’s value seems optimal considering a quality build for less than $200.

Great Roof Basket
Edit / Update: 11-30-2024I’ve had this roof rack since March of this year and lost both the “X” covers that cover the joint where the two pieces meet. I emailed their customer service to get replacements and they quickly responded. After sending in my proof of purchase, they sent the replacements out via FedEX. I got them today and put them back on. Great customer service and the roof rack is still going strong.I’ve had several roof cargo baskets over the years, and this may be my favorite. The size (width and length) is perfect, and sides are high enough to keep things in place without being too high. Item came in on time and there was nothing damaged in transit after removing it out of the box. Assembly was easy and quick. The only thing that is not included are the rubber sleeves that slip over the joints where the two halves connect (shown in the video). Thankfully I had some heat shrink tubing on hand. My only wish was that the wind fairing was thicker (at least 1/4”). Overall, great item, and it’s less than half the price of a well known brand that looks the same 🤨. Highly recommended!

Good Budget Rack For 2021 4Runner - Needs Mod To Work With OEM Crossbars
We needed a cargo rack/basket for our 2021 4Runner ORP to haul our camping and off-roading gear. We didn't need a high-end or permanent cargo rack since we also have a Thule Cargo Box for our snowboarding trips. I ultimately narrowed my choices down to this, the Rola V-Tex, and the Rhino Rack X Tray. Based on my research (and I did waaaaay too much, just ask my wife), these three met our needs and were all comparable. The Rola V-Tex is a fairly popular budget basket in the 4Runner community, but I was scared off by all the horror rust stories. That narrowed my choices down to this and the Rhino Rack. What's interesting is that these two racks look nearly identical, have similar dimensions, and have very similar features. I ultimately went with Tyger due to the price and the extra rust-prevention features. What I Like:This cargo basket was fairly straightforward to assemble. The materials are pretty solid and the welds look good. I was mindful of not over-tightening the wind deflector screws after reading about others cracking theirs. The size meets our camping/off-roading needs and is the perfect length for our 4Runner with a sunroof. Not to mention, it looks pretty sharp on our truck. I've seen a number of people checking out our truck when we have this on.What I Don't Like:My biggest problem with this product is that the included mounting hardware are too long and do not work on the 4Runner's OEM crossbars. I had two options... 1) Go out and buy shorter bolts, or 2) Throw my Thule Wingbar Evo bars on the truck. Despite increasing the profile of the rack, I opted for the second option. It would be great if they had lower profile hardware so that I could mount this directly to my OEM crossbars. Also, while not a complaint on my end since I've been using various roof racks for many years, beware that this will decrease your mileage and introduce some wind noise, especially if you have a sunroof/moonroof.Final Thoughts:While I've only used this basket twice, it has met all my needs so far. I haven't done any of the tricks mentioned by others to further waterproof and rustproof the basket since I do not leave this on our truck. I'm going to hold off on doing any rustproofing until I do see any signs of rust to see how the manufacturer rustproofing features hold up. I'll be sure to report back in the future about what happens.Yes, you can find cheaper baskets on Amazon, but based on my research, it comes at a cost. I currently recommend this to anyone looking for a solid budget cargo basket. Whether you're looking for something for your outdoor adventures or simply something to pick-up women/men while mall crawling, this is a great cargo basket!
