Modern and easy to use
We’ve had this fireplace installed for about 2 months now. It’s not a clunky product like a lot of other electric fireplaces (we wanted it completely flush against our wall and that’s exactly what we got), it’s entirely controlled by a remote so our toddler can’t hit a bunch of buttons on the panel, and while not the cheapest out there, is a reasonable deal for how it looks, the settings it comes with, etc. It’s an electric fireplace so of course there’s no real fire in it but it’s kind of wild that a few guests were second guessing themselves on if this thing was emitting real flames.We don’t often run the heat output simply because it’s on a level in our house that doesn’t need it but when we do, its does a fine job.I can’t speak to ease of installation as our contractor put it in.

You get what you pay for
Really happy with this fireplace. The look of the flames is great and the overall feel is very modern and classy with a thin black trim. The unit is easy to install. It is pricey but you get what you pay for.

Very realistic!
Very impressed with the quality of flame. The heat takes the edge off and I like that you can run it without the heat option. We noticed a squeaking noise and contacted Dimplex. Their customer service was excellent. They are going to send us a replacement part and a technician to come out and replace it.

Broken upon receiving, 25 days for refund
This is the second one of these we have ordered. The first one started squeaking, then changed rumbling and groaning the 3rd day of operation. I ordered a second one, this review is mainly for the second. Upon opening this second unit to prepare it for installation I could see that the long flicker rod was unsecured in the case. This long flicker rod has small mirrors attached to it, it slowly rotates to create the flame pattern. The flicker rod was unsecured forming a long snake like shape across the inside of the unit. Being completely unusable I returned it on 20 December 2023. I have kept the original unit which continues to make a constant groaning mixed with occasional shuffling noises. So far I am quite unimpressed with the quietness this unit. Customer service person told me that it is possible for a technician to adjust the rod. I will give that a try next, sure am getting tired of listening to this unit groan and shuffle.UPDATE: Yesterday I removed the glass and back mirror of my first unit. After carefully adjustment to align then lubrication of the 3 flicker rod support bushings with synthetic grease it is quite as a mouse.

We love it. Looks awesome
I bought this fireplace unit a year ago. We love it. Looks awesome, easy to use and wired as 220 it will pump up plenty of heat. Can't say enough good things about this unit!

Five Stars
Electric fireplace arrived in great shape and love it!. 10/25/18 UPDATE Installed for 10mos now and still love it...no buyers remorse. We'll often turn the heater on in eco mode to heat the family room in the evening and turn the heat down to the rest of the house. The flame effect doesn't change but you control the color of the coals and back ground which adds pretty cool effects you can change whenever you want.

Worst Purchase of my life!
**When you have to continually wait a long period of time (45 minutes plus) for a business' Customer Service it tells you that either they make a bad product, or they don't hire enough people to support their business. In this case it's definitely a bad product, and piss poor Customer Service. Would never recommend anyone to buy anything from Dimplex. **They are not in the USA, they have no techs in the USA, and they contract everything out, installing, repairing, etc., to the cheapest installer. We have literally spent hours on hold with Dimplex to just get parts, then more hours with them trying to get their installers to install the parts.Purchased the XLF 50 on 5 Dec 2017, had it installed a week later. Since installation, the electric fireplace has been broken longer than it has worked! Average wait time to get through to Dimplex Customer Service is 45 minutes to an hour+ each time you call. The "flicker" motor went out within the first 2 months. Called Dimplex, spent 40 min on hold for them to spend 5 min on line with me to take my information and send me the part. Part arrives a few days later, then it sits at my home waiting for installer to call. A month later I am calling Dimplex, on hold again for 45 min, for them to tell me they will contact the installer. A couple weeks go by and finally an installer calls to install it the following week. Two months later, same crap, flicker motor goes out. Spend 55 minutes on hold trying to contact Dimplex. Again, 10 min for them to tell me they are sending me the part. Again, 2/3 weeks go contact by any installer. Again, on the phone for 50 minutes waiting for Customer Service. Again, they answer, 5 min later they tell me they will contact the installer. We've had 3 flicker motors installed within a year. When the last flicker motor went out it popped, didn't realize it smoked the control board, heater motor, etc. Again, on hold with Dimplex for over an hour. Again, will send you the part. Part arrived on 21 Jan 2019, it is now 19 February 2019, and have not yet heard from the installer. Called Dimplex today. The recording states "wait time is 15-20 minutes", 50 minutes later I get through. The Customer Service rep, Cheryl, is a waste of oxygen. Tells me she "does not want to hear my "wrath". I ask to speak with supervisor. She puts me on hold for another 5 minutes. Comes back on and starts to tell me about trying to contact the installer. Told her I want to speak with her supervisor, she yells at me "she's not here", I said transfer me to her VM. Left a message, no return calls. WORST! WORST! WORST! No accountability, substandard products, and unprofessional customer service, not logistic plan to support customers when parts are shipped out to be installed. No worth your time or money.

Very Nice Fireplace
The media could not be loaded. We were skeptical on buying this fireplace because of the price but when we installed it wow it’s so pretty! For our place I think it gives enough heat but we probably wont use it as much as our furnace gives very good heat. But overall very nice fireplace

I am impressed.
I wanted to go to the local fire store to see the unit before I bought it. Unfortunately the local fire store would not answer their phone. So instead of helping the local company I ended up rolling the dice and buying the unit blind, from Amazon.Typical Amazon order, click boom delivered. Super fast.I am super happy with the unit, I am only running 110 volt but the heat output is impressive. I have the unit in the master bedroom which is 20 foot by 20 foot, and even on 110 volts the fire will warm up the room easily and even better it can maintain the temperature to your desired setting. The first few days of having the fire the room was getting too hot. The fan is quiet on eco mode, can be used on heat boost so the machine runs on max for a 5, 10 or 15 mins to warm the room quickly. The fan is noisy when on heat boost.So basically the heating system is very impressive. Now for the look. The flames and ember bed are mesmerizing, with little frame and more fire. The warm flicking glow is awesome. Yes the unit is expensive. But in my opinion worth every penny.

Love it
Love this fireplace! It’s more beautiful in person. Love the ember bed and colours and the flame is very realistic. The heater works great. We did pay to have an electrician install 240 volt power and hardwire for us. The fireplace shipped quickly and arrived in perfect condition.
