These are loud even without boost
We bought these for my husband, who has moderate hearing loss and wears hearing aids. We debated between this model, which has a sound boost that goes up to 50 decibels, and the model just below it, which has a sound boost that goes up to 40 decibels. We finally decided on this model, even though it is more expensive and only includes two phones, rather than the 40 decibel model which is cheaper and includes three phones.I have to tell you, the volume on this phone is loud! My husband doesn't even have to use the Boost feature, and the volume of the person's voice whom he is speaking to is still loud enough for him. I believe that the normal volume for the voice on this phone is at 15 decibels, and pushing the Boost button just once bumps that level up to 33 decibels, which is quite loud. I can't even imagine bumping the Boost all the way up to the maximum 50 decibels! Unless you are practically deaf, that level could really hurt your hearing.Aside from the Boost feature, this phone also has other great features. One that we really like is Slow Talk feature. You can push it while listening to a call being screened or to a voice mail, and it will slow the voice down to make it more understandable. This is really great when someone is speaking too fast to clearly understand them. It also has a Tone feature, with 6 different levels to help improve the tone (quality) of the voice of the person you are speaking to. There is another feature, that helps to up the volume of your voice to make it louder to the person you are speaking to on the other end. It has a voice that tells who the person is who is calling. You can also set the voice to speak the numbers which you are dialing if you'd like. There are two bright red lights, one on the receiver and one on the base, that flash brightly when you are receiving a call and when you have a message. This is quite helpful when one might not be able to clearly hear the phone ringing, although the ring tone set on its highest level is quite loud in my opinion. We even had to turn that down one notch. There are also other features (like phone book, etc) which we have not tried yet. This phone is really great and worth the price for someone suffering from hearing issues. But I have to say though, that unless you have severe hearing loss or are very elderly with hearing issues, this phone might be way more than what you need. Even though my husband has moderate hearing loss and wears hearing aids, this phone is certainly more than he needs. I wish we would have gotten the 40-decibel model instead. We would have paid less, gotten three phones instead of two, and it would have been more than sufficient to help my husband hear clearly while on the phone.

Very happy with this set.
It’s easy to block numbers, create an address book, attach a special-ring to important numbers, and use the intercom. Recommended. The sound quality, while not perfect, is as good as it gets with this type of phone.

It works great, its loud enough for a 94 year old to hear!r it!!
I bought this for my 94 year old Grandmother and she is able to hear on this phone pretty well, she struggles with certain tones, but theres nothing that can be done about that, I like that the boost can be set to stay on all of the time, the talking speed function seems to work kind of the opposite, with it tuned off normal talking is choppy, but fast talking sounds normal, no big deal its set to be on all of the time as well, the only downside is the memory buttons dont call from the handset, instead they work with the speakerphone on the base only and there is no dedicated memory buttons on the handset and the phone still rings one time on blocked calls, there needs to be an option to not make any noise on the first ring to give it time to block the call, it sounds like a trivial thing but to an elderly person its confusing and not letting a scammer have a chance to complete the call because the phone unnecessarily rang once is extremely important, there shouldnt even be any indication that the call was even attempted. I would have given it 5 stars if the call block feature wasnt so poorly designed, overall its great but with scammers scamming elderly people every day, blocking numbers without notice should have been a priority by the manufacture.

did the company actually try this phone out before putting it on the market?????
WAYYY too complicated for the people who it was intended and advertised for, sight and hearing impaired elders, THE WORST AND STUPIDEST THING WAS NOT BEING ABLE TO SHUT OFF THE CALL BLOCK FEATURE the button for this is located right next to the end/hangup button on the handsets and is easily and frequently activated by mistake when trying to end a call the result is that the person on the other end of the line is automatically blocked from calling or being called without the person knowing my 92 year old mom did this many times and she had to make a emergency call and was not able to do so because of this bad design, the phone was very expensive compared to similar ones on the market and was sent back to the company for a refund as basically it was useless for its intended purchase.

Love , love, love this phone.
My mom lives in another state away from me and she can’t hear unless you yell.I would have to yell when speaking to hear on other phones, but not this. I couldn’t get a hold of her unless someone else was there to hear phone ring. No longer. Now I can check on her anytime.Definitely worth the money.

Great phones for the hard of hearing
Edit: after a few months of use, almost every phone call sounds garbled and muffled. These are very loud and clear phones. They can not substitute going to a doctor to help with hearing, but they are the most efficient phones for the money. They also come with so many additional features my previous Panasonic phones did not have.
