First, I got this for posting videogame tutorial videos online and it works good for that.Pros and Cons: Cons FirstCons:1. Wired microphone/headset only. So bluetooth will not work.2. Remote control - sometimes I need to push the button twice to start/stop/pause recording. Not a big issue as I know to expect this, and watch for it.3. SD card port is really tight. I have to use my multitool pliers to remove the SD card when I use one. Fortunately, I use the USB instead.4. There is no true "passthrough". By that, I mean, If I am playing a game, even if I am not recording, I have to have the device turned on in order to see the game on my TV. This is not good as I have had devices in the past with a passive passthrough. I only had to turn the device on when I wanted to record/watch a video.Pros:1. Excellent picture quality on videos and photos.2. I use USB - insert and removal is easy.3. Because of USB, I can transfer the video/photo files over to my tablet for voiceover/narration of videos.4. Customer service is quick to respond. I contacted them on their website and inquired about which mic/headset they recommend for their product and got a reply back that day with the information.

I have purchased this device for capturing old movies VHS etc and the quality is great. Unfortunately if videos have text with solid color backgrounds it doesnt like it and goes to a blue screen temporarily. Also when you capture via RCA (analogue) you cant capture in 16:9 (widescreen) i dont know why but really annoying that you have to convert in post afterwards. For straight analogue recording of home movies in 4:3 ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT.

I am very satisfied with this remote video capture, particularly the remove control with just one small annoyance. There is a center button on the remote which allows an infrared signal to be transmitted to the video capture device so that it can be paused during the recording process, particularly for commercials. BUT, the layout of the infrared receiver from the remote is on the bottom of the capture device. Why I can't figure out because you need to be able to see the display screen on the device to be assured that the video capture is in pause mode by watching that the record icon on the video capture display screen is flashing. So you have to tilt the video capture device away from any obstacles, such as the floor, so that receiver can receive the signal in an unobstructed way, which for me required me to hold the remote inches from the floor. In that way I can still see the screen on the video capture device and still interact with it via the remote. Also while the button to commence recording on the remote is quite responsive, the button to end the recording is so slow to respond that you often have pressed it properly enough to end the recording, and have to press it repeatedly to initiate the end recording action.Otherwise, I am satisfied with the remote and the recording device. The quaity of the recording is excellent.
