Great!
-NEW REVIEW EDITED IN-So, having waited on Rocksmith 2014's key, as I had the same issue as many and didn't receive it, I got the older version of Rocksmith on Steam to try out the cable. This means I now have a bit of perspective on both games, and while I enjoyed Rocksmith Classic, I have to say 2014 Remastered is BY FAR the superior version. Thankfully, Ubisoft support was rather quick to get me my software key. The only reason it took me so long to actually update this review is that I've been having a blast with this software, and have been practicing not only the available default library, but a few of the DLC tracks, too. This game is probably a great supplemental tool to those learning guitar through traditional means, but I really had no traditional training, mostly teaching myself very simple songs prior to this via tablature. It's VERY easy to pick up, and the game gives you a tutorial for the first bit in the form of recommended items. You can either ignore these (and end up completing them as you go due to the simple nature of the game, unlocking little goodies to change your fret board's appearance and amps), or you can follow them to learn how the system functions. I STRONGLY ADVISE THE LATTER as it allows you to get the most out of your experience, and shows you where everything properly is.If you're worried that the game will leave out specific details on technique, you should know that aside from playing tracks from the library of songs, there's also the option to watch and practice in interactive tutorial videos (featuring real guitarists), play in the 'Guitarcade' (which allows you to practice techniques, from simple volume control to slides, chords, bends and scales!), or participate in a more Guitar Hero-esque mode with set difficulties. The game adjusts its difficulty by how well you play, so the quicker you learn, the quicker it will adapt and unlock the 'real guitar score', and doing it this way makes it incredibly rewarding. I'm already making great progress on songs like 'My Next Girl', 'Thnx fr the Mmrs', and 'Tribute'.I seriously cannot recommend this product enough, and encourage anyone with an electric guitar or bass to pick it up with the cable, but BE WARNED that ordering it through Amazon has had a high rate of shipments arriving without the CD code, so you may have to request it through Ubisoft. It didn't take long for it to get to me, though; they had it the next day, and apologized for the inconvenience.Speaking of Ubisoft, some tracks have 'alternative tracks' hidden behind Uplay. If there's one criticism I must give the game, it's this baffling requirement, but it's really not too troublesome, and it's not necessary to download Uplay to get enjoyment out of the game. However, if you want those, it's needed. But that's really not much of a downside.-ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW-Well, should have listened to the other reviewers. No product key in the box.I may actually give a review of the product once I can play it. Which will be when the issue's resolved through Ubisoft. Good grief.

Rocksmithing!
This is a working product and works pretty great with a small caveat. I had to turn off most of my cores, and use three only. Before this, I was scouring the interwebs to see what the issue was. Luckily, I found my answer on Steam game site, in the actual game discussion. It should be noted that in order to set the affinity for this game so that it will load, one needs to search for Steam.exe in the task manager. Then one can set the affinity, mine was 3 cores instead all of them.I'm not telling you what to do! I'm telling you what I did to make it work after it downloaded. I use Windows 11The game runs great! I'm Rocksmithing! Well, I'm Rocksmith 2014 Edition Remastered'ering.Disclaimer:

Get it if you need the cable, otherwise just go to Steam
I recently picked up an electric guitar with the plan to teach myself how to play. A friend recommended Rocksmith as a good way to learn while having some fun. He also recommended the PC version because he found that it had no lag, while the console versions he had tried did lag, sometimes too much to be usable.Since I needed the cable, I decided to get the physical version as it cost the same as the digital version on Steam and came with a cable. It turns out that the Windows version DVD is simply a setup program that launches Steam and has you redeem a code to get the game. So if you have a console version with a cable, and want to get this on PC, it is better to get it through Steam when it is on sale than get the physical disk.I tried the game out on a couple of songs and was impressed. It did a good job detecting my playing (though there was one exercise where I know I was hitting the notes but it kept going back) and I like how it applies effects to the guitar based on the song you're playing. The progressive teaching is nice too... starting out it's a lot of plucking a few notes of a song as it plays, and as you advance it adds more and more complexity until you learn the song. One thing to note, and why I docked one star, is that while all the DLC for Rocksmith is forward compatible, so there is a large catalog of songs, there is an issue with Steam that in order to download and access the "legacy" (2011) Rocksmith DLC, you need to own that version and purchase a "disk import" pack for Rocksmith 2014 - Remastered. A plus is that you then get access to all the original Rocksmith songs (except 4) in addition to being able to use all the DLC. I recommend waiting until the 2011 version is on sale on Steam to pick it up, but then you add 60 more songs to the 2014 edition.

Get it while you can!
UBISOFT closed the DLC store for RockSmith on my PS3 and I was looking for an alternative. The RockSmith+ pay-per-month subscription wasn't something I cared anything about (along with the dubious licensed content). License code worked on Steam as of June 2024I installed this on my PC, connected it to my TV and now have a Better experience than the RockSmith I had on the PS3! The ability to add CustomForge DLC was a huge step up and was surprised at the quality (and recency!) of the songs there. Now I'm jamming out far more than I did with my PS3 version (with hundred of $$$ of DLC on it). Highly recommend
