Q: Do these bars have a rough finish in the middle of them? Is that what the "p" stands for?

"Moen R8718PB 18-Inch Bathroom Grab Bar, Peened " The PB is for Polished Brass. However, the description adds the word "Peened" and the Polish Brass selection is NOT peened. Peened is peened in the various selections but on this specific product the description in quotes is incorrect. It is NOT peened. I found out the hard way.

Q: How do I measure existing grab bars that need replacement? I want to be sure I order the right size.
