Merde, French is Hard... But Fun!: A Story in Easy French with English Translation

I'm reading this book in a group class. It's fun and amusing but also got some really helpful learning points with occasional lists of verbs to point us in the right direction.

A good example how to construct the material for learning foreign language.

After I read Vol. 1, I immediately ordered Vol. 2 & 3. I just finished Vol. 2.Here's the thing about Madam Dubin's books: although you obtained them originally to improve your French, her writing and her storytelling are so engaging, so delightful that you very quickly read them because they are fun to read. You read them for the stories and for her wonderful saucy sense of humor.Most language books of any kind are a slog, something you endure, like practicing scales on your musical instrument to get better. She serves us not "scales" but MUSIC. Not raw ingredients, but a delicious "meal". We forget about getting our vitamins and just devour the feast in front of us.I can't wait to start on Vol. 3, which I will try to read as slowly as possible to make it last. There are two words that sum up her work: MORE, MORE! Encore, s'il vous plaît!

I must say that I am a bit biased because the author was my instructor, however she’s a hoot in person and her humor and all around cheeky nature definitely shines in all her stories.

This book is so much fun to read, makes you feel so proud that you are actually reading a book in French. Extremely helpful to learn vocabulary, expressions and some grammar. It' s really a fun way of learning an practicing your intermediate French.
