So far so good!
Ordered from Japan. Invoice was in japannese. The lens came very quickly i was surprised you could ship stuff from across the world in less than 2 weeks. I have not tested it yet. But it seems very nice to hold. zoom ring is a little stiff but that is good as it prevents creep and will probably get less stiff with time.

A-OK except for aperture ring
First what I don’t like: the “aperture ring” appears to be an incremental encoder rather than a true aperture ring. It acts exactly an assigned thumbwheel on one of Fuji’s no aperture ring lenses. There are no aperture makings on this lens because the would be meaningless. Just like the focus ring on most fuju lenses it just sends a signal back to the body and the body controls the lens. I suppose there may be a weight/size/cost benefit. At least when I want to change the aperture I reach for the same spot as on my lenses with real aperture rings.Everything else is dandy. It is smaller, lighter and less expensive than the xf50-140mm and xf100-499mm. These other lenses can do something this one cannot, but not many. It is also a big bigger than the xf55-200mm. When zoomed to 70mm length it is not over conspicuous. After initial use my experience is that the AF is fast and accurate. (Depends in part on the body that used, of course.) Keeping the zoom range in mind I noticed no image quality issues, though I suppose with proper instrumentation and analytical procedure you could find something. But if you are not consciously looking for an imperfection you won’t spot one.The lens is compatible with Fuji’s 1.4x teleconverter.

Possibly the best lens I have ever used
Possibly the best lens I have ever used - and I've shot the best (Angulons, Symmars, Distagons, Zeiss-Contax, and excellent Nikons). New design over 55-200 is clean and distributes ~same weight to make it feel perfectly balanced in the hand. Smmoooth focus and zoom. And the sharpness at all focal lengths is definitely a notch better than the former lens, with superb clarity side-to-side, corner-to-corner. And its close-up potential is stellar with images so sharp the lens should come with a warning label. Impressive, especially at the price. Finding one at time of this review is nearly impossible, unless you do as I did: Buy used direct from Japan. Anyone interested in a Fuji XF 55-200mm?

Dead on arrival
I bought it from Amazon Japan. And the worst shopping experience.First of all, it took more than 2 months for Amazon Japan to ship the lens!Second of all, after I finally received the item and mounted it on my xs-10, it does not even focus! What a lemon. Now I have to return such lemon after waiting more than 2 months. What a nightmare shopping experience.

Soft and Slow Focusing; Not up to Fuji Standards
I own four Fuji bodies and about a dozen Fuji lenses. I have been shooting for over 50 years, the last 5, primarily with Fuji hardware. If this had been my first Fuji lens purchase I would not be a Fuji photographer now.I purchased this lens for a smaller, lighter alternative to my 100-400 mm and 150-600 mm lenses for a trip to Patagonia which was not wildlife-centric. This lens was a huge disappointment. The speed of focus, sharpness of focus and contrast were all far below the standards I'm used to from Fuji. Even manual focus could not compensate for all the shortcomings of this lens.I know every company occasionally produces a lemon - so when I return from my travels, heartbroken, I submitted the lens, under warranty, for recalibration. It was returned to me with a notice that no repair was necessary. This presumably means it was performing to its factory specifications. That means to me that Fuji is knowingly producing a very poor performing lens. The 55-200 mm lens is far better optically and, if the range suits your purpose, I would absolutely choose that lens over this one.If, on the basis of my comments and those of others, you are interested in purchasing the lens I would be happy to sell you my copy - which, at the time of writing, is about 2 months old and has been passed by both the factory and by PhotoTech in New York, an authorized Fuji repair vendor.Addendum: I have trialed the lens returned to me by PhotoTech and, in good light, it's performance seems better than my experience suggests. I still believe I could have gotten similar performance from a third party lens at half the price - but I have added a second star to recognize adequacy, even if overpriced.

Fast auto focus, animal eye detection was working great on my XH-2
I’m happy with my purchase. Zero regrets.Optical performance and OIS works great.Lite enough for me to hand held all day at the zoo. I miss aperture control on the lens tho.

Fantastic telephoto lens
Proud owner of the new XT5 and this lens is just perfect for my needs. Whether photographing birds in my backyard or the Orion Nebula. A bit front heavy on the tripod but otherwise can’t fault it so far. Read mixed reviews re focus but I’ve had no issues so far including birds in flight. Get one and have fun!

Love it!
Really happy with the purchase. The images are very sharp, the autofocus is quick, it’s very lightweight for what it can do and the pricing is just right.

De los mejores lentes XF hasta el momento.
Lo voy a decir así:- Si vas a comprar este objetivo, sabes lo que quieres; vale cada peso que pagas por él.- Tengo muchos lentes XF, este es uno de los que más me ha gustado.

A very nice multipurpose zoom for the Fuji system.
I won’t give an actual review of the lens as there are a thousand professional reviews out there. I will however give my personal use case, and why it works so well for me.I have owned a Fujifilm X-T3 mirrorless camera since 2020, and have no plans to ‘upgrade’ to another Fuji APS-C body any time soon. It’s a keeper.I decided I wanted to get some nice shots of birds in the garden as well as taking out on walks for nature and telephoto landscape shots. This was the obvious choice. In short, it’s all the lens I need for shooting birds in a garden, with really nice rendering and sharpness. While it’s not going to blow out the background into a creamy swirl like an f2.8 pro lens, it still has very nice separation and I regularly get professional looking shots (by my standards anyway!)The size is perfect for a compact mirrorless system and doesn’t look too obnoxious when out and about in public. In its fully compressed form, it fits into a standard size case, mounted to the camera which, again, is excellent for travel and walking.Build quality is very nice for the price (as is most Fuji glass) and I have no concerns about longevity. Despite being mostly plastic, everything feels tight, solid and well made.All-in-all, this zoom is a perfect example of why APS-C is my choice for casual bird and nature shooting. The compact size vs image quality and overall reach at the price is just perfect.
