It works!

Don't bother; use your finger instead.
This might work for some plants in pots but it didn't for mine. Despite being able to squeeze out water from a plant, the meter tested "dry!" Waste of money and I wish I had used it more while I could still return it. Now I've spent the $$ just to put it in the garbage.
