Q: Is this suitable to place boxes 50 cm x 50 cm on to get the total weight of contents?

Hi, the surface area has a very small footprint, maybe 15cm x 20cm approximately. I suggest when have large boxes you may want to add a piece of laminate board to give a wider surface for stability then zero the scale and weigh your item. Bear in mind that the scale has a ‘hold’ function which means the weight indicated will stay on the screen after you remove the item you are weighing, so if you have a larger box which prevents you from seeing the screen this function is very useful. Yes, this has decimal points, it weighs is both Kilograms and grams and pounds and Ounces. So it will measure all weights correctly.

Q: If a large package is placed on the scale and it covers the digital screen, how do you know the weight?

You can usually see under it as the screen is slopped. Ive never had any trouble weighting boxes a metre square
