Many High Quality Features
This is an impressive knife. Whoever designed it knew what they were doing. And they obviously put some hand fitting or tuning into it at the factory. The Petrified Fish 949 is built with several subtle details rarely found at this price point. The blade edge is thin and even all the way out to the tip. It has one of the sharpest edges I have felt on a production knife. The blade spine is crowned, the grind lines are perfectly symmetrical and crisp, flipper tab and jimping are easy on the finger, the flipper tab geometry and strong detent give it snappy blade deployment, no gritty noise or rough feel in the pivot, smooth drop shut retraction, feels like the tang has a detent ball ramp, no “double clutching” needed to close, blade is perfectly centered, no blade play at all, about 50% lockup, no lock stick, solid audible click and thwack sounds, well chamfered and comfortable forward finger choil, chamfering around the inside edges of the scales, chamfered liner lock tab, a relief cut opposite the tab for thumb access, nested and skeletonized steel liners, very fine and uniform blade sandblasting, and the blade branding is relatively modest. It’s well balanced with the blade open. Mine has the green micarta handle. This is good quality micarta, not the cheap slick micarta found on other knives. Its course grained providing good traction. It feels comfortable and controllable. It’s nicely contoured, even the lanyard hole is chamfered. The back spacer is the same material and fits perfectly flush with the scales. No unsightly pocket clip holes. The knife came nice and clean, not coated with oil or grit. The box included several goodies even a set of spare screws. The knife looks good to me. With the exception of the pocket clip, this is a classy knife with a subdued appearance. The clip is a good design and well executed but it looks out of place. Too flashy for an understated knife. It would look better if it were finished to match the finish of the blade or the hardware. It would be terrific if this knife was offered with premium blade steel. Shipping takes a while, it may come straight from China. This is one of those rare knives that is worth much more than what I paid for it. If it were made in North America or Europe it would cost at least $120, maybe $150 from a prestigious maker.

Excellent Value
The media could not be loaded. This is a nice, full-sized EDC. Action is smooth out of the box. Razor sharp. Lovely linen micarta. Feels great in the hand. Deep carry titanium pocket clip. First impressions are...impressive.The flipper tab is big. Sticks out nearly 3/8" from the handle when closed. Not an issue for me but may bother some. That said, it is nearly "impossible" to fail. Really snappy. The pivot rides on phosphor bronze washers. Very smooth. Detent is dialed in. Perfect. Lock up is tight with zero play in any direction. Liner lock engages 25%. Just the right amount of access to disengage the lock. It's stiff, but not severe. The blade is a thing of beauty. I'd call it a modified drop point with a large, sweeping belly. Flat grind. Dual finish with stonewash on the bevels and satin on the flats. Awesome. Mine blade is a little off center, favoring the show side slightly. My $200 Giantmouse Corta did the same thing after 50 flips. Easily adjusted. For $55, not a big deal. The spine is crowned. No jimping but there is a subtle indent that fits the thumb perfectly, whether held with index finger behind the flipper tab or in the large choil. Ergonomics are great.Liners are steel and embedded nicely on the scales. They are also skeletonized. The spacer is made of micarta as well. Haven't seen that before but it works. Looks good too.Bottom line: This is really nice knife at any price. For $55, it's a fantastic value. Highly recommended.

Nicely made
I have quite a few Petrified Fish knives. This one is as nice as the others. Appealing shape, relatively light for this type of handle material, and sharp AF out of the box. Nice touches on features like rounding the spine for the thumb. Lock-up is excellent. Opening needed a little tuning to my tastes and lube but other than that it was ready for the pocket. Clip isn't bad, either.Nice knife. I reach for it frequently as my daily carry.

Large Lightweight Quality Knife with Good Steel
I bought the Green Micarta 949. If you like a larger knife, lightweight like me or have large hands, you'll appreciate this knife. The blade on mine is tighter than my other PF knives. It takes more finger force to deploy the blade. It locks up tight with a unmistakable CLICK! Stowing the blade is easy but mine doesn't drop into the handle, rather it requires light assistance. I like this feature because I know there's no risk of the blade falling on a misplaced finger. Surprisingly lightweight for a large knife; it weights that of some smaller knives I own. There is no jimping on the blade spine. This doesn't detract from thumb placement as there's plenty of hand purchase on the handle. My thumb doesn't extend much beyond to make a difference (as it would with smaller knives). All in all, this a large, lightweight, rugged quality knife with good steel and good functionality. Recommend to BUY.

sharp scales , almost finger cutting sharp scales
knife blade seems to be good quality and well finished , lots of extras in the box , --the scales however are sharp as hell ,when opening with the fliper 3 flicks and my finger is sore the scales under the flip tab are so sharp its right on the edge of breaking the skin. the scales them selves feel like cheep plastic did not feel confident the knife would last . and with out modifications not comfortable to open so it goes back .large knife was fairly sharp the liner lock was nicely ground to be easy to close .will hurt your finger on the scales

GREAT KNIFE
I’ve been looking and going through different knives forever and this knife not only has great steel but the design and pocket clip along with the rest of the equipment is just incredible and unbelievable for the price. Pick up a petrified fish knife because they are great for sure.
