Ancient Greece for Kids
It is a fantastic book for children. It has excellent pictures, diagrams, and concise historical information, and the children will expose to the history of the Cradle of Western Civilization Ancient Greece. They will learn about the Trojan War, the Athenian Democracy, the Peloponnesian War, Alexander the Great, the Hellenistic Period, and many other topics. The author has done an incredible job.

Great student intro!
I used this as an intro and reference for my son's first lessons for Greece. It covers major dates and timelines as well as important figures.

short and concise
A good short and concise read on Ancient Greek for kids Would be good to have an age range suitable for this book I would suggest this would be a good read for children between grade 2 to 6 depending on the proficiency of the child. There is a section asking the reader to create their own myth on Persian War after chapter 4. In my opinion there are more ways to get children involve with creativity such as getting them to look at alternate strategy to win the war or defend the city etc. Children at that age is already full of fantasy and dreams with today's comic book make belief movies. Too much fantasy/dreaming may not be a good thing.

Brief Deep Look Into Ancient Greece
This was a book that I had a chance to read as an ARC for Captivating History in physical copy instead of as a digital read. What a great concept to not only make historical books geared for adults but also a much friendlier version for children who may be interested in history itself.First of all since I don't have children myself I used my husband and cat as a captive audience while the cat just merrily snoozed her way through as is typical. My husband, though, said that he gives the book the rating that was provided as it helped him to understand Ancient Greece in a easy-to-grasp way while not overwhelming him although at times he also did wish there was more information than what was provided.I must say that I was certainly pleased that the book covered so much Ancient Greek history from the Minoans/Mycenaean times to the conquest of Greece by Rome, which is usually much more than was ever provided by the books I grew up with. At the same time the book itself helped provide the reader with comprehension exercises and activities to help readers better understand what they may have read after the end of each chapter. And another thing I truly loved was the fact that the story did mention that sometimes learning about certain parts of Ancient Greek culture is hard even though we have the oral history and its many variations. To hammer home the point they give a much cleaned up version of King Minos and the Minotaur while then explaining how certain facts may possibly be gleaned from such remaining literature as we have received from the mists of time. The book although rather lengthy does include for some of the harder names a pronunciation guide as you go, highlights important words you may not know and also includes many colorful photographic inserts whether of actual artifacts, artwork, maps or even ruins to help the reader along.Unfortunately the book does need a bit of a clean-up for there were words not submitted that broke-up a thought, missing punctuation or even random letters thrown in to throw away the flow. Even with all of this I found the book informative and still a great historical read.I most definitely would recommend to this any home teachers who may want to teach a broader definition of history to their children, to adults who may need a quick historical read or to even those students who may be learning about this Classic civilization in class.**Please note I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review**

Terrible book
This book is terrible.First, let’s discuss the design of the book. This is clearly self published by some bloke with a word processor:- the font is comic sans which is laughable for a full length book- The maps are often too small and the text labels barely legible- The images often have URLs below them which is inexplicable except if they’re some half baked way of citing sourcesNext , the writing. I’ve only read two chapters.- the first chapter on the Minoans explains where they were and that they came from two separate people, then almost immediately fast forward to the battle of Troy, some 500 years later. The reader has no context for understanding a city state , Greek style war, who or where is Athens, etc. It is jarring to read.- The second chapter on the Olympics is a random jump and refers to geographies never explained.-The whole thing feels like it was written by a high school kid. As for the high reviews on Amazon, I assume they’re mostly written by that kid’s friends. Not worth any amount of money. If you find this at a free book exchange, avoid it.
