Great pain relief
I have nothing bad to say about this. I had shoulder surgery and was anticipating a lot of pain. This works great and performs as expected. At not even 2 feet away it’s very quiet and easy to hear the tv. I’ve used it at least 3 times a day for the last 6 weeks with no issues, about 45 minutes per use. I haven’t tried it with hot water. It’s been a lifesaver for me. I did get some Velcro “tape” to help hold it in the shape I need.

Didn’t last.
Purchased this a year ago and it worked wonderfully. Cleaned, dried and put away for storage. Recently went to use it and it doesn’t even turn on. It was working fine before I packed it away. Frustrating that I used it less than three months and now it’s dead. I would think it should last a few years.

ideal for shoulder surgery / fast replacement
The 1st one we ordered had a small hole and leaked, this company sent a new product right away without charging us. And I returned the one with a hole.My husband had a massive shoulder surgery and this is used at least 4 times a day. To save on ice use the mini water bottles and then refreeze them. Also, don't use your tap water, use filtered / distilled (it's always better for machines anyway) We use 5 frozen mini water bottles in this and keep an extra 5 frozen for the next round. It hums quietly and isn't loud at all. We have not used it for the heat portion but I am sure that is just as nice. This is worth the money buying it on Amazon, through the doc office it was over $250.

Horrible design. Lasted less than 2 hours
Purchased for use on my knee, which is awaiting total knee replacement surgery. The only reason I’m taking time to review this item is that it was SO BAD! Making it even worse is the fact that this is my replacement after the first one failed after only 4 uses. First one was unusable after the connection from pad to base unit failed. I had used it exactly 4 times when this happened. I requested and received a replacement that didn’t make it through the very first use. As I was lying with it on my knee, I heard a loud “POP” and my bed was flooded with ice water. Such a shock in the middle of the night and it soaked all of the bedclothes and seeped into my mattress before I could jump up. What a mess. Photo shows that pressure of water blew out the pad. It’s a shame because this thing provides great relief when it does work. Need to go back to the drawing board and work out the kinks on this one. $160. Piece of worthless plastic. Having an issue one time could be a fluke, but twice shows a true flaw in the design. Also worth mentioning, it arrived in its original box and both times the box looked like it had been dropped out of a 747. The interior contents were fine, but just shows a lack of concern from the get go. .

Ice machine
Great item. Would be better if the bad was gel. It was hard to keep on my knee
