Such a great self-help book!
I order this book after a tough break up. I needed something to help me get past my ex and hopefully in the most positive way for me possible. This author was great because she addresses loss on 3 different levels. Loss of her father, loss of her unborn son, and loss of her husband via divorce. All 3 had different impacts on her and she addresses how she moved on through each. The book essentially guides you to a point to see if you are ready to move on past your ex by the end. You have to make that choice for yourself. It doesn't push a timeline on you, as everyone is ready at their own pace.So good I am reading it again. It comes with an online workbook but I really didn't care for it. I bought another journaling book called "After The Breakup" also another great tool. I have definitely grown stronger and more aware of cues that triggers thoughts and memories of my ex and how to head them off at the pass. Essentially retraining your brain to redirect itself when these occurrences happen. Not that you won't have memories of your ex, or that they are bad, just keeping you from dwelling on them 24/7 for the rest of your life...so you can move on to a better life!

Compassionate and Inspirational
We were never meant to live in isolation, but in relationships, so when those are lost, be it through death, moving on leaving a rough wake, by whatever means, it’s like ripping a scab off a wound. It would be easy to get stuck, but life does go on and we need to learn how to move on.Julian Demarco shares from her own experience of much loss and how she has managed to learn how to “let go” and she aptly describes how she has managed to do that. She explains that it is certainly not like pretending that everything is okay and carrying on as if nothing happened. Not at all. She explains how letting go of loss means to liberate oneself from the past and learn how to embrace the present as a new reality and acknowledge this “now” as the time where you begin to live. She has learned that one must be able to release the painful past before being able to live in the present. We can’t step forward if we have a foot planted in the past.As painful as it is to accept this new reality, it is imperative that we not stay stuck, but learn to accept what is out of our control, not allow fear to hold us back, and allow healing and personal growth to come from the experience. Grief, of course, is a very necessary part of the healing process and must not be suppressed, but again, we cannot let ourselves get stuck there. Letting go of any anger and replacing it with joy and peace is an important element. Her book is full of great advice on how to make the shift to embrace gratitude, and action steps in how to do all of this to learn how to live again. Great advice!

Anecdotal, but still powerful.
How do you survive a breakup? I’ve been asking myself and other this question for years. Finally, all the answers in one book. This was more of a memoir than a self-help book. The author is a survivor herself and shares her personal story of how she was able to be strong and finally let go. She also walks the reader through various phases of the grieving process and how to move on. An insightful read if you have experienced loss or grief from a breakup or death of a loved one. There were some grammatical errors and incorrect clinical information in the book that bothered me. The author is not a therapist or clinician, so the information contained is simply anecdotal. Keep that in mind.
