Q: Has anyone checked this bag on flights? What has been your experience?

This particular sized bag would bee to large for a carry-on. This is a 60L bag and would need to be checked.

Q: Does this have a trolley sleeve ?

No, no trolley sleeve. It’s honestly too big for that. Even a large suitcase would make that application awkward. The “backpack” sleeves are very useful. I carried mine all around Costa Rica. It weighed 26 lbs loaded, & I’m about 120lbs. I had no problem.

Q: Would this work for a student who can't fit books/ binders in her large backpack for school?

More like luggage than a book bag

Q: Can the 40L bag slide over a hand truck using the strap handle storage panel?

No, I don’t think the handles are designed for that. It probably wouldn’t sit on the hand truck easily.
