My favorite new knife!
Absolutely love this knife! The assisted opening is amazing! It actually has enough force, and speed opening to actually kick in your hand a little. Quality is amazing! Very sharp, very comfortable, and lock is very positive! Good weight to it, and overall feel is awesome!! Highly recommend!

Super Sharp and Love the Assisted Opening
I previously had another S&W assisted opening knife that I loved but it was HEAVY. I swapped to a SOG thumb open blade and, after some working to get it to open with a thumb flick it was a great knife for a few years. Unfortunately the lock blade was a slide button release and now, even with the button pushed to lock the blade collapses easily and is a significant safety hazard. So I looked again at S&W as the lock blade is the metal bar that pops into place to keep it open. I found this knife and it is a couple of ounces lighter than my original S&W so decided to take a chance. It is still heavy, but it doesn't overly weigh my shorts down on one side like my first one. The blade is once again crazy sharp which is great. My only complaint is that the sides are like sandpaper. I'm sure if my hands are covered in fish slime this would be a benefit, but mostly it's just hard on whatever pocket I am pushing the knife into. Maybe they could have left it smooth right around the pocket clip to reduce wear on clothing? I may take a Dremel to it myself to take care of that.Regardless, this newer S&W knife is a much more manageable knife, weight wise, extremely sharp, the lock blade is super safe compared to others, and I am so happy to get back to an "assisted opening" blade!

S&W SWAT Large Knife
Let me just preface this by saying that I am by no means any sort of an expert on knives. Overall I thoroughly have enjoyed the knife so far. It's sturdy, solid and just feels good in your hand with the grip tape on the handle. The assisted open is quick and crisp. The knife is large, but not to an unwieldy extent, it is just a large well weighted knife.Pros:- Solid and what feels to be well built knife- Sharp out of the package, has stayed sharp so far- Grip tape on handle resists slippage, no matter how greasy my hand is, the knife never feels like its going to slip out of my hand- Quick and crisp assisted opening action with a satisfying click to let you know its locked into place- Safety switch on handle keeps knife from opening up unintended- Big lanyard hole, if you're into that kinda thingCons:- Fairly difficult to get the knife open by just using the thumb stud (probably could be fixed with some adjustment, but I rather using the switch on the back)- Linear lock (Its not that it doesn't work, but rather that it is very difficult to push over with how deep it is set into the knife)Neutral Things:- The clip is quite tight, while this would be great to make sure the knife will not fall off your belt, it also means its some what difficult to get off when you want it- Blade is glossy, not an issue, just not expected. From what I could tell before purchasing it, was that it was a matte finish on the bladeOverall, I would definitely recommend the knife to anyone who is looking for an assisted knife in this price range.

Great first impression.
I just received this knife, and I planned to use it for EDC, as it was recommended by my uncle. My previous EDC knife was http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005UP1IEW?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00, which while it was great, this one blew my expectations away, it came very well oiled, and it was really nice size, as well. I really am looking forward to using this knife, but from my first opinion, it opens well, both ways, and it came near razor sharp, it seems like it will hold the edge well, too. Overall, I really like the knife, and I'll update as I use it.UPDATE 8/17/15:Took it camping, have used it for odd things around the house, and such, and it is holding up great, after cutting a few twigs and some canvas, didn't really seem to dull the blade anymore, but sharpened the serrated edges using a diamond rod.Still holds up, and still feels great in my hands.Update 9-3-17:I started cutting more things with it, and was poking at a tree log when the tip snapped off. I didn't apply much pressure to the tip, either. I just pulled it and it snapped off. It was a great knife while it lasted, but I plan to send it in and get a refund, as I've found another knife to get. Either way, it's great, but don't put too much strain on it.

Bargain price - top quality knife
This is an excellent knife - size & shape are very similar to the original SWAT knife. (I do wish it was available in the silver/stainless steel look). I have seen some reviews that imply a "hit & miss" type of quality. This one is tight, very well fitted, and works as it should. I have no complaints about the quality of the parts or the manufacture. The only (slight) drawback to this is the 'sandpaper' type of insert on the handgrip. And it is only on one side, the side with the pocket clip has a more 'rubbery - pebbled' feel to the inserts. Doing both sides in this type of material would be preferable. The sandpaper type is a bit rough on the pants pocket or jacket pocket material.I carry 3 or 4 knives at a time, various styles of knife, and I keep them in different positions. Outer coat, inner jacket liner, pants pocket, & duty belt, so regardless of weather conditions and / or clothing options, I have one easy to get to. This knife will suit me quite well in any use or need.

Sons favorite knife.
This is my son’s favorite knife. Bought it for him last year at specialty knife store near us. Then he lost it. Ease of opening and closing. Has Lock blade feature when using. Perfect size. He uses it daily at work. Reports no complaints. Cheaper on Amazon than in store. Same exact knife. Durable.
