American Standard 5311012.020 Laurel Toilet Seat, White

I was replacing the one that came with the apartment that was so flimsy. This by contrast is like they used to be - very solid and strong, the core seems to be wood, and it has a very nice strong finish on it in white- it fit perfectly. Took a bit re: shipping but not bad

I moved recently and noticed that one of the bathroom toilet seats had seen better days. The bumpers underneath the toilet seat were split and cracking and I considered buying a bumper set but it wasn't long until I noticed that the hinges were cracking on the Bemis toilet seat. So buying hinge and bumper replacement sets would not be the most economical. it would actually be a better deal to buy a new toilet seat.This American Standard toilet seat fits much better than the Bemis' seat that I had before because it hung over the toilet bowl and was very lightweight and much lower quality.This toilet seat is made of wood but is encased in a thick hard plastic which makes it very easy to clean.I got a great Amazon Warehouse Deal on mine and if you have never purchased any Warehouse Deal before than you should check it out.Just click under "used" even though they are new products that the box has been opened for example. Pick the deal you want and you can save a considerable amount of money.I installed this toilet seat myself with just a regular screwdriver in just a matter of minutes. Extremely easy!

This toilet is amazing . Just make sure you have someone properly install it, otherwise it will leak. The cover, which I'm reviewing works fine, but sometimes the lid and the seat kind of wants to go up and down together. It's new, maybe it will work better over time. But seriously, the american standard champion 4 toilet is worth every penny.

We have three American Standard toilets in our 38 year old house. We take care of them and would never replace one of them with these new modern less water toilets. My plumber of thirty eight years always enjoys when one of his customers ask him to replace one of these old toilets with a new model cause he can get a great price on their junked toilet. Our toilets have always worked great and the American Standard parts are readily available on Amazon. We normally replace the seats when they start looking like they need replacing......normally around 10 years. I always keep a couple of this model on hand in my garage for use when I need a new one. I have never had one break or look bad in our bathrooms. We would not like one of those new readily available slow closing lids which are probably for lazy people. I just ordered two new replacements for my garage storage area. I can not find this particular lid at any of the box stores in North Florida (Tallahassee) or South Georgia. I was so happy Amazon still had them available.

As toilet seats go, this is about average. It fits my toilet quite well (I bought the same brand as I did last time) and was easy to install (just needed a Philips screwdriver). It came with a sheet of instructions but I didn't need to read them. It's the right color to match a standard, white toilet.All of the parts required (bolts, etc.) for installation were in the box and this arrived in good shape (no worries about damage during shipping).The hinges on the lid are not quite as freely-moving as with my last toilet seat, but I expect they'll loosen up with time. The lid is just the right weight (I am a woman living alone so I don't lift the seat unless I need to clean something).Please note that this is painted wood. I expect to have to buy a new one in a few years. For some reason, the paint starts coming off these seats (my last one was also an American Standard painted wood seat) after a couple of years. Perhaps it is something in the water supply that eats the paint? (I don't use harsh chemicals to clean -- soapy water is all that's recommended.) At any rate, at a price of under twenty dollars, if I have to buy a new one in two years, it's not a big deal. I do wish the finish was a little hardier, but at the price I paid, I can live with periodic replacements.

I went through three other seats, trying to find something that would fit along with our bidet on the toilet. This one fits great, beautiful looking, feels quality and was cheaper than all of the other ones would absolutely buy again.
