Blue Ocean Rugged Megaphone

I teach sailing and run frostbite racing at my club, and wanted a dependable replacement for the cheap megaphones that are constantly breaking, corroding, spilling their batteries on the ground, or simply failing for no apparent reason. I needed something that would hold up to salt water and banging around in the bottom of a powerboat.Now that I've had a few months to use this, I think it is nearly the perfect megaphone. Yes, it is expensive, but I'm feeling better and better about the purchase the more I use it. I really get the sense that this one is going to last a long, long time.It's a little bulky and heavy, but feels absolutely solid and can take some abuse. It shows no signs of wear so far. The included strap is long enough to hold the megaphone comfortably and securely when my hands are busy.At first, I was a little disappointed at the maximum volume level. The built-in siren and horn functions are VERY loud, but the built-in microphone seemed muted. However, the sailors who are listening say that although my voice isn't loud, it is exceptionally clear, and they actually have an easier time understanding what I'm saying than with my older, louder megaphone. It may also be that since the sound is being projected away from me, I don't have an accurate sense of its volume. In any case, I find that using my big, outdoor voice as I speak into the microphone helps me feel like I'm projecting across the water.The rechargeable battery lasts a long time. I've only recharged it once in about 24 hours of use, and I'm not sure it even needed recharging.My only suggestions for improving the product would be to increase the sensitivity of the built-in microphone, and to provide a way to check the battery level without using the charger. [Correction: There is a battery light on the megaphone, I just hadn't noticed it before.]But even with those caveats, this megaphone is SO much better than others that it's simply in a different class altogether. If you use a megaphone regularly, then save up your money for this one.

I wanted something that performs well and is built to last., This megaphone fits the bill. I get lots of comments about it and people frequently say, it would be perfect if it could float. They are invariably impressed when I say it does. I like the rubber foot on the speaker cone that prevents it from sliding around. The output is great and I have never once heard feedback when it's turned all the way up. Excellent design and construction.

I've loved this megaphone but, for the price, I was hoping it would last more than 2 seasons on the water. It just stopped working in the middle of practice today even though the battery is all charged up and the light is on. No idea what is going on. NK has horrible customer service, as I have found with their other products and I'm reasonably confident that I will have no luck fixing this.

Super loud and fun!

It is pricier than I would like it to be, but it does a great job at being loud and durable.My dislikes are:-The battery is inconsistent and will sometimes go from seeming fully charged to empty in about 10 minutes.-When water gets in the mic it will sound like you are yelling through a tin can.-The bottom bumper strips from the edge easily, which is a problem because it gets very slippery.I like:-Adjustable noise and Max volume and clarity-general ease of use
