Very Impressed
I've been shopping around for an air rower for my garage gym for a while now. My choices seemed to be either spend way too much money on a Concept 2 or get a cheap one that might break on me at any moment. I'm really glad I finally came across this rower from Marcy. It is a little more expensive than some of the cheaper models, but it won't break the bank. Some of the reviews were a little negative with regards to the amount of resistance from this machine. From what I can tell, this seems to be user error. Most air rowers are quite simple in how they function. If you don't pull hard or go fast, then you don't get much resistance. If you pull harder or go faster, you get more resistance. I did intervals on this rower last night, and according to my Garmin, my max heart rate got up to 195 bpm. I'll let you decide if I got a good workout. It does seem to walk a bit when you really get going. The mat I had it on was sliding forward in the garage while I was rowing. I wasn't actually expecting to be able to get anywhere on this rower, but I guess I could slowly make it to the corner store if I wanted to. This issue was easily remedied. I just put some of my weight plates on the mat, and there was no more moving. Since I'm not sure if the movement was because of the mat or the machine, I won't knock any stars off.I'm a certified personal trainer on the side, and I have other products from Marcy (weight bench and a cage), and I've been impressed with their quality. This air rower is not an exception.

Good rower for the money
I've used a Concept 2 rower for the past 15-20 years at the gym, which I found to be an awesome machine. However, when it came to a home machine, I didn't want to spend that much money so looked for something similar. I chose an air machine as the sound it makes gives good feedback to the amount of effort you are putting into the workout. From reviews of magnetic machines, it sounds like they are quiet which would have seen odd based on my experience. One of the attributes I used to compare rowers with was the weight. I figured a heavier machine would be built more solidly and I wasn't wrong in my strategy. This doesn't look like it will fall apart anytime soon.I read some reviews that it doesn't give a good workout. As another reviewer pointed out, it is apparently user error. I don't pull that fast but do pull hard. Even in the easiest setting, I am huffing in now time flat. The only ding I can give the machine is that one of the feet did not screw in. On close examination, it could be seen that the threads were malformed. Customer support was super responsive and I am getting a new one, albeit with a delay as it had to be back-ordered. A piece of wood suffices for now so at least I can use it. This wasn't enough of an issue to deduct stars and I am very satisfied with my purchase.

worth the money& plenty of resistance for any beginner-advance looking for cardio& body workout.
That price point this row machine is worth the money and has plenty of resistance in any setting. The row machine is extremely sturdy at (300lbs) capable and offers anyone the cardio and body workout I was are looking for at home. The best features at this price are sturdy, adjustable, non-moving secure foot pedals and a large seat and a smooth track. The only draw back would be the bare essential computer panel. Please, know that manufactures shipping box and storage of this item needed improvements and was delivered to me excessively damaged both times. The second one I kept with minor scratches and one dent in the metal in the rear base. Overall, this did not effect the performance of the row machine but nevertheless this is unacceptable to anyone buying products from Amazon as this product was not delivered by a second party on both occasions. This is why I give a 4 star rating. I hope you found this post to be helpful.

Needs to be Quieter and with More Resistance
So we've had this for a while now. Very much a mixed bag.PROs:- High quality construction, rated to hold 300 lbs and sturdy- smooth motionCONs:- loud; too loud to watch TV without headphones or turning it up to 11- not challenging in terms of exercise. I'm old and fat, and I don't even break a sweat in 20 minutes of consistent rowing. My butt hurts, is all.

Just nope!
Let me start by saying that I have the Marcy MWM-988 home gym, and was so impressed that I decided I'd stick with this brand. After reading some of the reviews, I decided to give it a shot anyway. So, after it finally arrived and put it together here are my thoughts:It was pretty simple to put together, which was a plus. Took me about 30 mins. That's about where the praise ends. There were many holes where the screws would not tighten because the holes were too big. The middle portion did not touch the ground making it quite unsturdy. For those that have critiqued the lack of resistance...they are SPOT ON! Now, I wasn't expecting a Concept 2 or anything, but at least something. Those saying that the lack of resistance is due to poor rowing form, well that is pure nonsense. I've rowed off and on for quite some time and there was no resistance at all on the highest setting despite how quickly I extended.All-in-all, this is being sent back, and I'll save my money for the concept 2. I still love my Marcy home gym, I just wish this was up to that quality.
