We bought two of these latches to hold our dutch barn doors together. Other reviewers are right; this latch is larger than you think it is. That said, if you have the room for it it's extremely sturdy and should last a long time. I really like that it has a spring that pushes it open unless you manually close it; there's no confusion about whether it's open or closed.

Bigger than you think it is. Spring enables upward or downward action. It is either fully latched or completely not latched, no half-way latched. Heavy duty, top quality hardware, easy to install.It is actually somewhat burglar proof, you have to look at it pretty hard to figure out how it works. Once you understand it, very easy to operate. Someone in a hurry is not going to figure out how to open it.I mounted top and bottom on a double gate, money very sell spent.

Great latch...heavy duty. Seems very well built. Solid construction. The spring looks to be high quality and I don't anticipate it to break anytime soon. Have used it for a few months and no regrets. Only point to mention is that it is a bit bigger than what the picture suggests, but no big deal at all. Happy with purchase

This latch solved my problem. I’ve been using it for about a year and my Houdini horse has not let himself out once, unlike previous latches. And the gate is either clearly matched shut, or it is open, so it greatly reduced the factor of human error. Previously, we had added a snap to a more traditional latch, and if I or my husband or our farm sitter forgot the extra snap (we all did it), Houdini horse will realize it and open the gate. With this latch, there is no extra snap to remember and my horse hadn’t figured out s way to work it open with his prehensile lips. Thrilled with this product. Heavy duty and holding up great.
