Q: Does this come with media?

Hello Darby, Short answer, yes the media is included. There will be two types of media included. 20Liters of K1 micro for the inner EAZY chamber and 100L of K1+ for the outer bio chamber. The outer bio chamber has a max capacity of up to 300 Liters of K1+ Media. More than the provided 100L of K1+ can be added for additional biological filtration. Media types and quantities used are important to know if media needs replacing. Typically the media needs very little replacing. The media is constructed of virgin plastic (not-recycled) so that you will get the best bacterial adhesion. The K1+ media also has a mineral coating that further enhances colonization of beneficial bacteria. New filters should can also be boosted with PURE+ Filter Start Gel containing live, concentrated bacteria cultures for a jump-start on bacteria cultivation in biological pond filters. This gel-based solution sticks to the filter media, allowing nitrifying bacteria to rapidly colonize the filter. This bacteria will mature your filter, helping to convert toxic ammonia and nitrite into nitrate, resulting in less stress to fish and increases bacterial colonization. IT WORKS!

I’ve had this filter on my koi pond since 2005. (11K gallons under shade) clear water, healthy fish. Just fluff it one a week. I did have to change the media after 16 years.
