Initially I had problems with the fan being too loud, but after some research I was able to mitigate this almost entirely (no fan is totally silent, after all).If you connect the fan to the 5V power pin, it makes a constant whirring whine noise that can be heard from another room. HOWEVER, if you instead connect it to the 3V power pin, you will get a much quieter experience, at the expense of some cooling.Without the fan running, the temperature was 70°C idling (with the passive heat sink installed). With the fan hooked up to the 3V pin, my idle temperatures are down to (46±1)°C.

Like others, I bought this case after buying a cheaper passive case. My passive temps were hovering around 70º which I thought too high.The fan is too loud on 5v - not an aircraft as others have said, but noticeable from 6ft away. About what you'd hear if you had a laptop with it's fans on at that distance. On the 3v pin though it's very quiet - a couple feet away and it can't be heard.My temps: with the fan at 5v: 40º. With the fan at 3v: 46º.My only criticism is that some bits of the case don't screw together and just press fit - I'd prefer a securer connection.

Well designed. I have the fan on the low voltage and it running as a media server for hours at a time and everything stays perfectly cool. Gives easy access to the electronics with the layered construction of the case and it clicks back together perfectly.

Arrived promptly, but the fan does not work. had to trim the sleeves on the GPIO plugs so that the lid would shut. Then the fan didn't work. Powered up ok, pretty colour changuinig lights work fine, but the fan never spins, even when not connected to TX14.Have ordered another to see if its just a bad fan, but aint confident!

A nice, easy to assemble case. Not sure about the colour changing lights though?
