It works! WiFi throughout the house now!
This is a simple LITTLE (it's quite small) product that solved my issue completely. In my case, the WiFi router was in the basement at the far end of the house, and the other end simply did not get reception. The router has a WPS button and I opted to connect using that - let me reassure anyone who buys this that it DOES take a good while for initial connection, there will be a few moments when you think something has to be broken and it's not going to work - but after about six minutes the lights stabilized on top in the configuration that indicated it had connected. Unplugged it, took it upstairs and plugged it into an outlet. I then went to the end of the house that had no reception and tried my phone to see if it would now get WiFi. IT DID. Streaming YouTube videos played perfectly. Watching a Hulu video on the tablet was no problem. It's been connected for almost a month with zero issues, even after a couple of power outages. It does exactly what it says it will do and does it well.UPDATE on 2/4/2019 - this little device is STILL working like a champ. Really happy with this purchase.UPDATE on 8/15/2020 - it's still working wonderfully. We dropped our cable TV and stream exclusively now, and this device continues to function and makes streaming Netflix and Amazon Prime possible in the far end of this house. One of the best purchases I've ever made, and for so little money.Update on 8/14/2021:Still working! We had a massive electrical storm that caused a couple of power outages and literally reset the router to its default settings (wiped out the SSID and password I was using), plus evidently fried the WPS button because neither this device nor a wireless-enabled printer would connect that way once power returned. Printer got connected via manually typing in the details. I looked up manual for this device and connected it via its web link - and it still works like a charm!

Still great after 1 year
I've now had this TP link Wi-Fi Range Extender for a year and it still works great and still going strong. I just figured I would write a review as someone that has some long-term experience now with this particular model.I just received a new modem and had to connect the extender to the new network. After finally remembering how to do a hard reset on the Range extender (it has to actually be plugged in and powered on when you put the pin in the hole to reset it) it was easy peasy using the extenders app on my phone.I'm actually in a completely separate building from where the modem and router are which is why I needed an extender to begin with and I can honestly tell you that before this extender I was LUCKY if my reception was one bar, and that one bar would drop constantly. After setting up the extender I'm still impressed with the reception that is at the full 4 bars. Not to mention the spot where I have to plug in the extender is not the best location for it and it always shows a red light instead of a blue light because it's not getting the best signal, and yet I'm still getting full reception. It's really amazing. This is one of those products that I wish I had gotten sooner than I did and that will remain as one of the best purchases that I've ever made.

Good, cost effective solution for streaming music and videos.
I used this device as a wireless range extender for my home network. The device is in the house and the signal being extended need to pass through several walls and into the garage. It works well, though I expected a stronger signal in the target area. Still, the signal strength in my target area is strong enough to stream videos and play music. I don't play many video games so I can't speak to how it would work under gaming conditions. Setup was easy but the instructions were a bit confusing so I had to reset the device a couple or times to get it set up the way I wanted it. It extends both 2.4 and 5Mhz signals well. There are indicator lights which are blue under the best conditions. At times, one of the lights goes red, telling me that the signal to the main router is weak. Even when this is the case, the device still maintains good bandwidth. I would recommend this product. I found it to be a cost effective solution.
