JAX Black Darkener - Metal Finishing Solution - Antique Finish Without Heat or Electricity - 2 Ounce

I had an old brass candelabra I was fixing for a church and needed the new brass to match the old, tarnished brass. I tried the vinegar and salt solution home method and it took forever to just turn the new brass pink. With this solution the brass will darken from shiny and new to full black in a minute or two. By incrementally putting it on and then wiping it off in a few seconds I was able to match the old brass in less that 10 minutes. I probably could have controlled the reaction by diluting it with water, but it worked well for me at full strength, and I only used about a cap-full. I couldn't be more pleased with Jax Black Darkener.

Did not work as expected on brass. Produced a very inconsistent medium brown color. No where near that 'black' I was expecting. I even tried multiple coats and results did not improve. The only upside is that the 2oz bottle seems like it will go a long way if you are happy with the results.Be aware this item is also non returnable in case you were inclined to try it out.

Easy peasy, just brush on, and done.

First, purchase took over two weeks to process and arrive. Trying to blacken some zippo lighters that were engraved on stainless plated “brass”. It did cloud up the stainless but did nothing on what is supposed to be brass. Tried again on brass enameled zippos and it had a nice black in the engraved area. So I’m kinda on the fence until I try more actual brass.
