I am huge collector of books. Especially beautiful books such as this one. This is by far my new favorite book. I am not a Christian. I study all religions. This book is absolutely amazing. The Art, Archeology and History presented in this book on top of the stories and select quotes from the Scripture makes this the best book for Bible study. It presents Christian history and references for the validity of the Holy Scripture in the most beautiful presentation possible. Such a huge powerful book. If your a Christian this is a complete reference. If you have a hard time reading the Bible then is your best tool to bringing it to life with all the pictures and facts. LOVE THIS BOOK!! I want to buy it for all of the Christians I know. I took a picture of just two pages to show the presentation of such revered knowledge. Buy this book.

Historical & geographical info with many photos & classical art. A must for anyone who values the bible.

Gorgeous book with photos, artwork, maps, and timelines. Easy to follow, summarizes, and teaches what's in the Bible. Sturdy covers and heavy paper. A visual feast for the eyes and a treasured keepsake! Great seller. Very pleased *****.

The book itself is lovely, however the box I received it in was crushed & wet. The book itself was also wet & the binding crushed & wrinkled. Unhappy with the way this was shipped by Amazon.Also, not sure why, but the illustration on the front of the book I received was different from the illustration on the book shown on Amazon.

This is a beautiful book to purchase for reference. The pages have beautiful art work to accompany the text. I purchased a book in good condition to take advantage of the lower cost, still a great book! I highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn more about biblical literature.

This is a wonderful book and unique in its design. The Bible is not presented book by book or chapter by chapter, but in the context of a person, place, thing, or event. You can use Amazon's "Look inside" feature to get an idea of the reading level and the quality of illustrations. It is a rather large format book even by DK standards 12x10. There's a lot of reference material such as a list of the kings of Israel and Judah. I am a Catholic and didn't detect a pro- or anti- slant to the material on the early Church. I own several reference books on the Bible and don't see this a duplicating any of them. It is sui generis.

This book retails for $50+ in book stores, so Amazon's price is awesome. This book is a large coffee table type of book. It's pictures are bold and beautiful. My husband is a history and trivia buff, so he loves all the historical and political references given that coincide with the stories. Makes a great gift with its ornate cover and jacket. It is an illustrated book of bible stories including maps and biblical references, but it is not a bible. It does follow the bible's chapter sequence though. I love it and plan to buy another to give as a gift to my parents.
