Cujo owner Joe Camber (Ed Lauter) is given his own workshop as a gift from his wife Charity (Kaiulani Lee), who has just won the lottery, while Cujo illness continues. Vic Trenton (Daniel Hugh-Kelly), on the other hand, finds out that his wife Donna (Dee Wallace) is cheating on him. While he is away on a business trip, she and their son Tad (Danny Pintauro) break down in their car and the two make their way to Joe garage. But they only find the body of Joe, who was killed by his own dog. When the rabid Cujo attacks them, Donna and Tad flee back into their broken car and have to wait for help.
