While this sifter works great, it has a design flaw.
While using, dry ingredients sift wonderfully, but there's a ledge that collects some of the mixture and it just won't easily tap out! If you turn it over it goes everywhere on the counter or floor and if you don't tap it the recipe is short the ingredients that stay in the metal ledge under the sifter part.

Coffee roasting?
Using a sifter as a cheap way to roast coffee is well known. Though I have a roaster, I purchased this sifter to see how it would work for that purpose. Yeah, I know it isn't made for that, and I suspect it will work fine for flour, etc., but in general this is okay except the knob on the handle keeps falling off.That said, it is not a good option for roasting coffee. The wires only contact the screen at the bottom and this leaves a gap for the coffee beans to keep hanging up, so you constantly have to turn it back and forth to keep the beans moving. Other than that, it worked fairly well and produced a pretty even roast.

While not as robust as the flour sifters of my youth, this one will do the job!

Doesn't catch flour at the bottom
This would be perfect if the rotating "whisk" part inside actually connected, even slightly, with the screen at the bottom. I was spinning the handle and it didn't seem to be doing much. Had to keep banging the side of the piece to get the flour to come out. I bought this to replace my 10 year old, $5 sifter which had become rusty after too many washings. I don't really recommend this particular sifter. Probably just as easy to get a drum sifter and bang away!

No more CLUMPS! Flour, Cocoa, even grated parmesan cheese -- CLUMP FREE!
Tired of clumps of dry ingredients in baked goods, I purchased this sifter. It takes a while to get the job done, but in the end, NO MORE CLUMPS! So, we even used it to de-clump a "shaker" jar of grated parmesan cheese, as it was too clumped to use the shaker feature. Mission accomplished! I love the little gizmo that came with it to sprinkle powdered sugar. Nice add-on!
