Perfect for making a probiotic rich food.
The media could not be loaded. This is a very good product for making a yogurt like cultured product. You need to refrigerate the envelope once you get it and it does take 36 hours to ferment. I didn’t even buy a yogurt maker for this. I just had the pilot light on in my oven which produced a warm enough environment while the yogurt fermented. I found the instructions very easy to follow. The first batch was very strong in odor, but still so good that my husband wanted to eat the whole batch in one go so I ended up making a second batch right away, making double the amount. It turned out perfectly. I’ve watched lots of different tutorials on making this and I’m looking forward to having all the benefits from this healthy yogurt. I really surprised how good it tastes as well.

Finely ground and smooth active culture for a special kind of yogurt.
This is easier to use than crushing tablets . You still need to add prebiotics with it. The yogurt comes out nice and smooth and thick. Tastes great! Be sure to refrigerate when you receive your culture. It tells you on the package only I didn’t notice this until a few days later. Thank goodness it was still good!

Separation.
It works as advertised. First batch had a lot of separation of serum and curds. Second batch had almost no separarion an was very thick. Great taste.

This stuff is garbage! Stay away.
I went through probably six quarts of rotten half and half before i realized it was the starter. i was new to the fermented dairy game so I couldn't figure out why my yogurt kept coming out rotten, I was doing everything by the book. this starter just doesn't work so the milk just rots for 36 hours. Tried the biogaia brand and it was perfect. I even communicated with the company before i tried it and they said, oh yeah, just get it from amazon and your good. Not sure if the stuff is just total junk or it was expired and completely dead. They say to refrigerate it and I was like, it's not refrigerated at amazon or in all the shipping? they said it's fine just refrigerate it after you get itlFurthermore it's very expensive and then after 5 or six quarts of organic ultra pasteurized at $5 bucks a pop I'm out like $60 bucks. I bought there prebiotic inulin too, no idea if that is any good and I won't use any of their products ever again, can't trust it. don't go through the pain I did! Get other starters.

MUCH LESS NEEDED
I used one packet in 1 Gallon of 2% Milk The milk was heated in a crock pot to 180 degrees When cooled to 100F the ONE packet was added and the milk was fermented in a box with a heating pad for 36 hours. The temperature of the milk ranged from 108 to 90ish yet produced satisfactory results. Approx one half whey and one half casein (Greek Yogurt) when filtered through a fine filter mesh. Taste wise...the whey has a mildly pleasant taste so i mixed it with xanthan gum and fruit into a smoothie. The Greek Yogurt is creamy even with 2% Milk and also carries a mild taste so it takes fruit or Vanilla Extract pretty well. Haven't had a chance to add this to another gallon yet but have little doubt it will ferment this as the culture is pretty aggressive and seems resilient during my careless incubation cycle. Save the other 3 packets for a rainy day since only 1/4 their recommended inoculation was more than sufficient to obtain pretty satisfactory results BTW I added a1/4 cup Corn Syrup to the milk prior to fermenting and did not add any inulin but still achieved satisfactory results. The corn syrup was added as a little booster for the culture but probably not necessary since the bacterium feeds mostly on lactose in the milk itself. All in all pretty good results for my amateurish efforts

Great product
Great starter culture for homemade 'yogurt'. Can use 'yogurt' as starter for many more batches, so this product (with 4 individual packets) will last for quite some time.

Great Fermented Dairy
My first batch of fermented dairy finished this morning. I added L. Reuteri and L. Gasseri. Very nice fermented dairy. I'm very happy with my purchase and the quality of starter. I'll be buying more when I need it.

This strain works!
This strain works! But don't like the instructions, they say let it culture for a full 36 hours but that's too long, you'll have something good enough to eat in 12 to 18 hours. You'll probably have curds and whey if you let it go for 36 hours, but you may want that if you need a megadose of the probiotic
