We've had a huge issue with the dogs sneaking to the dining room to potty and I've used a retractable gate in the past because I like opening up the walkway to the rest of the house when we have parties or guests over. Needless to say, it didn't last a month before it broke. This one, however, I can tell is going to last a VERY long time! I comes with steel bracers for the joints so you really don't even need need the adhesive stabilizers because those braces keep it from wiggling and they are super solid and snug! I've tried rocking it from the top and the bottom and that thing isn't going anywhere! It still allows me to remove it when people are over as well. Installation took about 15 mins and I did it by myself so you can too. The bars are very close together and unless you have a small kitten, they're not getting through it. Adjusting it was very easy and the beveled lip at the bottom keeps you from tripping over it. I love that it opens both ways and you can keep it open if needed. I've slammed the door several times to see if it would budge and I can safely say, it did not! My only concern is the swinging door maybe to narrow for my bigger friends but again, I can easily just remove the entire gate all together. I highly recommend this gate, I know the price is a little high but for the safety and stability factors alone, I'd buy it over and over if needed!

This gate is vastly superior to any other gate we have owned. We used a different brand’s baby gate for keeping our children from exiting the room. Later, we used yet another brand’s gate to keep our dog inside our living room. We actually had two for him because he broke one. This black iron Fairy Baby Gate is so much better those gates. This gate is sturdy, it does not scrape our hardwood floors, like our previous Summer brand gate, because of the rubber plate at the bottom. It is much better in staying put on the sides without scraping our walls, and the height keeps our Boston safely behind it. We sometimes have to step over the gate to keep our dog from trying to exit with us through it. This one is low enough for us to manage. The swing door on it does exactly what it says: it automatically closes and, if left at 90 degrees, stays open. We use this gate no fewer than 20 times a day with kids and adults opening and closing it. I really think that a toddler would not be able to figure out the latch unless you physically showed him how to do it. And even then- nope. The instructions are a little sparse. I went to YouTube to see how it should work. No problem assembling this. Follow the scant instructions, and don’t cut the cord until it perfect for your needs. I even like how it looks. It’s black so it fades into the background, and the dog does not try to ram it…unlike his previous barrier. ;) Love this gate!!!

This is the third gate that we have bought for a variety of areas in our home. This is a great brand, and very sturdy. Sometimes people get confused as to how to open it, so just explain it to your guests before they damage your doorway. This latest one we purchased for our daughter’s home, to keep her dogs out of her kitchen. Easy to install, no drilling or screwing.

Looks nice and I can open it with one finger when I am carrying a lot of stuff. I wish it closed automatically.

My hat's off to who ever engineered this gate system. The sizing was perfect. The Mechanism to open the gate is perfect and super easy to operate with one hand. I'm not sure how well it would work with children because the handle to open the gate makes it super easy to open, but if you are using this for animals, its perfect. The additional bottom and top architectural supports make this gate super sturdy and its quiet. Our other stupid gate made a loud vibration when it closed and was always falling down and the animals would push their way past the gate. This gate is nice and quiet to close and it automatically swings into the closed position. Very well done guys.

I have a 32 pound Medium pup. He’s a year old and still very curious. His long legs give him access to every counter in the kitchen. After numerous times chasing him around to retrieve vegetables and utensils while I’m trying to prepare Dinner, I decided for both our sakes I had better keep him out of the kitchen. This gate is sturdy and does the trick. It was easy to put together and Because the length is variable, It fits my 83 inch opening perfectly.

I have had it for a couple months now but it’s a bad gate for the price. My one year old was easily able to open the gate from the first day so I ended up having to zip tie it instead and just using it as a barrier, which defeats the purpose of the gate since I purchased it with the intention of going in and out between rooms easily. The gate also does not stay in place, one tiny bump to the gate and it will either fall over or get really loose. Unfortunately, we struggle with the gate everyday and are constantly having to adjust it.
