Better Pens at this Price Point
-The pen is metal, and is quite heavy, which feels nice. It has a good size in the hand. Pretty much a standard sized pen.-the clip has a plastic gemstone on it, which diminishes the otherwise premium feel to the pen. Also has a sparkling finish to it which is subtle, and pretty nice if you're into that sort of thing.-The click is completely silent. The refill doesn't seem to fit my favorite pilot or otherwise refills because the barrel is quite thick.==Final Thoughts==At this price point there are other great pens such as the Parker Jotter, Zebra F701, Uniball One F (or P), or Penco Perfection, which are all cheaper options for much better pens. It's still a nice pen if you like sparkles and gem stones on your pen.

Understated Classy Pen
Uniball/Mitsubishi Pencil Company's line of ballpoint pens (Jetstream RT), and gel rollerballs (Signo 207/207+Plus/307) are in direct competition with Pilot for the hearts and minds of writers. Pilot has more quantity, but Uni has better quality, at least in the ink. Uni's "Super Ink" is an oil-based ink, enhanced with lubricants that make it write as smooth as a gel rollerball. Additionally, the Super Ink is a pigmented, acid-free, archival quality, waterproof, permanent ink. Take THAT, all you G-2 Groupies! Moving up a notch from the basic pen, Uniball offers two pens, the Prime (this pen), and the Prime Twist. They are not related; one of them must've been adopted. The Prime is a very simplistic regular retractable pen, with a very quiet knock mechanism at the top, filled with a clear plastic SXR-05 (0.5mm) or SXR-07 (0.7mm). An SXR-10 (1.0mm) is available, but only as an after purchase refill option, not as Original Equipment. All three refills are incredibly smooth. The pen itself has a plastic upper barrel, with a metal tip that starts about 2/3 of the length of the pen from the knock mechanism. A single blue plastic "jewel" is embedded at the top of the clip, just like the RT and Signo pens. The only pen that doesn't is the Pink Prime, which gets a pink jewel. The Prime Twist is a completely different fully metal pen, with a twist mechanism to project/retract the SXR-600-7 (0.7mm) Parker G2 style refill. For me, the choice is easy: the Prime wins because of the simple elegance of design and execution, and costing about half of what the Twist costs. The knock mechanism is less complicated and less prone to failure than the twist mechanism. The ink is truly phenomenal in both types of refill, especially for a ballpoint ink. Most of my ballpoint pens that take a Parker G2 style refill, have either a Fisher Spacepen refill, or a Jetstream Twist SXR 600-7 refill; they are THAT good. Limited to black ink only, but that's okay. If I want different colors, I have fountain pens...

Great pen for the price
The Uni Jetstream Prime ballpoint pen (Knock / clicker style) is a great pen for the price. It is a very solid weighty pen (28.1 grams including refill) and has a matte black finish. The grip area is smooth, but at least for me the pen doesn't feel slippery in my hand. The clicker feels solid as well, but interestingly it is very quiet, which for a office setting is a good thing. One other bonus is that the included Jetstream refill is also very good - and it is the standard Jetstream refill (SXR-7) and not the metal Parker G2 style refill (SXR-600) that costs about 5 times as much to replace. Highly recommended.Note that Amazon also has the Jetstream Prime Twist pen (B08WWKVPQR) if you prefer a Twist mechanism over the Knock / Clicker.

Phenomenal Pen
Unexpectedly wonderful. An almost perfect pen in a saturated landscape of cheap posers. This quickly became my favorite pen so fast that I had to stop using it because it was ruining the experience I had when writing with other pens. The barrel is pretty small but heavier than most due to the materials of construction, and its hand feel exudes quality. My one gripe is the clip and more specifically the blue jewel. It seems to have some brand significance, but I believe it detracts from the clip and keeps what would be a perfect pen from ascending higher in my eyes. It also writes pretty well I guess.

Great looking pen, slick grip
It looks great but not as heavy as I would have liked. I have been using a pilot and it had the perfect weight. The ink is really smooth but I intend to replace with a wider line, a 1mm if I can find a well priced set of refills. The pen is quite slick and I am looking for something to improve the grip - tape of some kind.Update 10th July 2024:I used a laser engraver to etch a pattern on the smooth part of the barrel that one would normally grip. The pen is now handling very well. I hope Mitsubishi can update the grip in future as it would make the pen perfect.

I wish these were available in the USA
I've been a fan of Uni Jetstream pens for a long time now. I am disappointed that this pen isn't available for purchase in the USA. Yes, you can order from Amazon and receive these from Japan. I am aware of that and I did that. It took a very long time for arrival and I'm sure the shipping accounts for a large portion of the overall cost of this great writing tool. The pen is very nice in the matte black finish. It's thin, the click is super smooth and very silent. Best of all is that you can fit any of the JetStream refillable sizes. I only use blue ink in the 0.5mm size and it fit perfectly in this pen. There's no rattle from a loose fit at the point and exit hole. This is something that irritates me when I use the disposable jetstream pens, the click and rattle as I write.I will buy a few more of these pens to keep at home, work and in the car. I have found a classy and professional pen that accepts my favorite ink and refills, Uni JetStream in click form.I work in professional lab setting where twisting or uncapping a pen is not ideal if I'm holding reagents with my non-writing hand and need to transcribe lot numbers or reagent information.Having the ability to expose the pen and use it with a single gesture and one hand is very practical.
