Easy Fix for RO Water Filtration System Leak
I recently purchased the Pentair Pentek Traditional Slim Line Filter Housing, impressive performance and ease of installation.Installing the filter casing was a breeze – it was very easy and simple. I used it specifically to address a stubborn leak in my RO water filtration system, and the results were fantastic. The casing fit perfectly with four screws on top, all lined up seamlessly. The 1/4" connection also fit like a glove, ensuring a tight seal. Now, not only is the leak issue resolved, but I can also easily see the filter in action. The 10-inch filter fits perfectly, and the clear design makes it convenient to monitor and maintain. Setting it up was a walk in the park. I appreciate the sturdiness and quality of the materials used – it feels reliable and durable, ensuring long-term use without worries. One of the standout features for me is the affordability. Despite its high quality, the Pentair Pentek comes at an inexpensive price point, making it a great value for the investment. If you're looking for a reliable and affordable solution to fix leaks and enhance the performance of your water filtration system, the Pentair Pentek Traditional Slim Line Filter Housing is a solid choice. It's easy to install, performs well, and offers excellent value for your money. Say goodbye to leaks and hello to a smoothly functioning water filtration system.

works great
This was fairly easy to install under my sink to feed a filtered water faucet. Installed about 3 years ago and has worked fine, no issues. Would be nice if a mounting bracket was included. Lower cost to filter more water and can select different filters for needs. Do not have to change filter as often which is nice.

Off label uses
Used this to rig up a motorcycle shock vacuum bleeder. Not exactly it's original use, but it did great. Help up to vacuum, pressure, and shock oil just fine. Would recommend!

Very good
I needed these to replace the housings in an old RO setup. Happily, these are standard 10" filter housings with standard screw/mounting holes. They fit perfect! They are also one of the rare housings that don't have the bleed button which I didn't want because the bleed button interferes with most multi-ganged mounting brackets. My deduction of 1 star is because I feel the threads are a bit big. I had to use a ridiculous amount of pipe tape to ensure a good seal. Also, I would prefer an opaque housing to reduce mold/algae build-up from the light.Very good quality, though. I think Pentair is the new owner of Pentek, Ametek, and others. My original R.O. was a Watts from over 10 years ago.

Stoopid design
Really stupid design if you take it apart and you lose the gasket like I did twice good luck trying to put this thing back together I had to use a bunch of special Teflon tape and it still leaks a little and now it's going to leak and I have to shut off the water until I can order the right gaskets if I can find them the right o-rings just plain stupid that they don't have the technology to make something that holds water without an o-ring and they don't even give you an extra o-ring with the product just plain stupid

Leaks due to manufacturing quality issues
I almost never write negative reviews. Though, being this product has 4 and ½ stars after 57 other reviews, it is possible that my experience is due to receiving a bad batch. I purchased 3 of these Pentek Slim Line Clear filter housings to setup a plumbed in espresso machine. I carefully followed the enclosed directions and removed the O rings and cleaned the housings. I noticed that the O rings ship pre-lubricated. None the less, I added even more PTFE impregnated FDA approved synthetic grease just to be sure. As the instructions state, I carefully seated the O rings and hand-tightened the housing. Pressurized with water and all 3 canisters immediately leaked past the O rings and out the threads. I thought perhaps “hand tight” is subjective and I depressurized and used a housing wrench to tighten them up. The leaking seemed to have stopped, so I gave it a few hours. When I returned to check it, I found about a cup of water all over my floor.I have installed and owned three other water filter systems and never had this issue with any of my canisters. Thus, I pulled them apart to inspect closer. Running my finger over the housing lid that presses to the O ring revealed the problem: the housing caps have a significant amount of flashing from the manufacturing process sticking up and pressing into the O ring. See the two pictures attached to see for yourself. This flashing was clearly pressing in the O ring and preventing a proper seal. To address the issue, I used a razor knife to trim the flashing. See the 3rd pic to see how much came off in just one pass. Then, I finish sanded the trimmed area with 400 grit sandpaper. Finally, I lubed the heck out of the O rings and carefully seated them, applying even more grease once the rings were in the channel. Finally, as a safety measure, I wrapped Teflon tape around the threads three complete passes. Note: Teflon tape should not be required as the O ring should make a complete seal. After all that work to try and cleanup the poor manufacturing QA, I put the whole rig back together and pressured it up. After a few more hours I returned to find a lot less leakage, but no leakage at all is acceptable. I finally got so frustrated that I used pipe dope to seal the canisters until I can get replacement canisters ordered from another brand. I just cannot take the risk of developing mold or or property damage problem due to saving a few bucks. After reading more of the comments, I noticed a number of other people mention that these leak and seem to still rate them 4 or 5 stars. So, if having a completely water tight housing is a requirement, look at another product. Though, if slow leakage is ok for this price, then well, now there is at least one more opinion out there for the knowledge pool.Update: The pipe dope did not work and the leak came back anyway. The O rings just cannot seat against the cap and the canister threads are not meant to be water tight. I have now disconnected the filter completely and await replacements to arrive.

High quality no leaks at 100+ psi
I used this as a prefilter for a home made maple syrup making reverse osmosis system. It was inexpensive and the see through plastic was nice for checking filter status. I had zero leaks even after opening the housing multiple times. I also ran it at around 100-120 psi for long periods of time while running the system.
